I remember my grandmother would mix it up once in a while and add walnuts. Good luck, happy baking, and have fun experimenting!

This was the best apple spice cake I’ve ever had; but I’m not going to try to fool myself or anyone else by saying I’m going to try to make it. I don’t have any of those cool, shiny kitchen appliances, and I stink at baking. Apple picking sounds like fun though.

I agree with mammaw because I ate a good chunk of this cake last Mug Up. Vanilla bean paste and orange juice. Ah ha! The secret ingredients.
I must be OCD because I like to peel the apple in one long strand first, then core. My mother had an ancient apple peeler which held the apple and you cranked it and as it spun a blade slid down the side peeling in one long strand. It hardly ever worked and made a mess but it was fun.

I hope folks send in their pictures after they make their cakes.
I also wonder if all the people who say they are going to make the cakes- make the cakes. (or if they pull a Jen Cullen) 🙂
