Gravestone Preservation Workshop

First Parish Burying Ground, Gloucester, MA

This 2-day workshop will provide basic information and skills for people who are interested in preserving historic gravestones and cemetery monuments. Each day will have an entirely different focus, and the content will not repeat. Participants are welcome to attend either or both days. The event is raising funds for the Christopher P Robinson International Preservation Trades Exchange Scholarship which will support preservationists who want to travel overseas to expand their skills and knowledge.  June 16 and/or 17, 8-4. $85 for one day or $150 for both. Project of the National Park Service, sponsored by the Gloucester Cemetery Advisory Committee.  Pre-registration required.

  1. What a historic resting place and a great cause here! Our elementary teachers would take us here to record the graves and history classes (respectful that it was a final resting place. The outdoor classes are very educational and hands-on big impact to the students. I am happy to see this practice is still taught in many schools! 🙂 Dave
