The week of April 14th is filled with Backyard Growers events! 

The annual miracle is about to occur. Winter will yield to spring and gardening season will return! Time to get ready! 

Join us for a free Fruit Tree Workshop


Learn how to prune, revitalize,and harvest overgrown fruit trees as a way of growing food for each other, connecting our community, and celebrating our heritage. People will learn how to work on their own trees, and receive training as a group so we can tend to fruit trees in selected downtown and East Gloucester neighborhoods.

Movie Night! Come watch Growing Cities!

Calling all backyard, community, and schoolyard gardeners! And friends of people who garden!

Join Backyard Growers and Cape Ann Community Cinema for a screening of Growing Cities, a film about urban agriculture and sustainable food systems. Stick around after the film and participate in a panel discussion with youth from The Food Project, one of the organizations featured in the film.

Ticket prices are $10 adults, $8.50 students & seniors, and a special discount for BYG and CACC members. A portion of the ticket sales goes to Backyard Growers to support our programming.

Shop for Spring Seedlings & Seeds


We have lots of lovely spring items for sale at the upcoming Cape Ann Farmers’ Market

We have spring seedlings for a buck each (broccoli, kale, Swiss chard, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower),  High Mowing Seeds, and cool Backyard Growers t-shirts.

First and second year Backyard Growers will receive free seeds and seedlings–don’t forget to come and pick up your free stuff!
