Oh Virginia ~ I love your stories ~ I must tell you that, as I said I would, I thought of you last night while shoveling, wondering if you were looking at the moon in Gloucester as I was looking at the moon in Annapolis. That being said ~ it was midnight and after looking at your husband ~ I hope you were “snuggled in” and not moon gazing! I’m sure the both of you are beautiful couple ~

Now that is one fit fella, and handsome, to boot!
PS: to Mary McCloud Tucker When I look at the moon, I think of one of my favorite movies, “Moonstruck” with Cher. It’s full of heart and the music is wonderful.

I think there is also a saying that a good man most likely has a good woman by his side! It is nice to see all the interesting old photos you still have. I wonder if with today’s photos all on smart phones or camera cards if there will be wonderful memories like this to share with others 50 years later. Keep the photo’s coming!

Virginia, I can’t tell you how I feel seeing this and reading what you wrote. I was drawn directly to Bob’s Eyes. As a youth I have seen that look in many of the men I worked with on the wharves that came back from war service and understood. They all had a story, whether they told it or not. My Dad, “Slug” Ryan, had it. Stan Worthley, “Knockout” Rielly, Bill Cahill, Mr. Linquata, on & on. By the way, If you want a light taste of Gloucester 1950’s 1960’s read Bill Cahill’s light fare “Lumper’s Picnic” if you can find a copy. I have one to lend out.) Joey & Frankie, your dads had the look in their eyes. That is why I did whatever they asked of me on the wharf. Windows to the heart.
When I learn how, I’ll post a pic of Slug in the ring with that look that gives a message of “I’m gonna knock your block off, and quick, but buddy, I’ll help you up after. Cheers, Bob Ryan
