It’s legal name is “KFC”, they are not allowed to advertise the word “Chicken” because there actually is no real “chicken” used at KFC. It’s all created in massive test tubes.

Test tube chicken would be far better than what they really serve: tortured and abused birds from disease-ridden factory “farms”.

CA Coffees was a bank. Our family called it Kentucky Fried bank. I remember how none of us could believe they were building a store (Mal’s), a bowling alley, a bank and Kentucky Fried in the marsh. After Kentucky Fried Chicken left Bass Ave., the Wonsons moved their flower shop from Whittemore St. to the Bass Ave. site: The Garden Patch. Different Wonson family than the Lanesville Wonson’s Florist, which moved to Rockport becoming Blue Gate Florist, now closing for good. Lanesville Wonson’s was my first florist job, starting in spring ’67- Yikes!

Yikes is right ! I grew up a ten minute walk from that area and remember Mal’s like it was yesterday. The lady that managed the KFC later in life worked at the little convenient store which is now a 7-11. How about the old bus barn? Thanks for stirring up the memories!

That parking lot is where I met Joey C. I was trying to seat belt one kid as the other made a jail break and tried to run under the tires of Joey’s Big Boy truck. #DadOfTheYear
