So what does formal attire mean?
Does a jacket and tie work or does it mean tuxedos? I appreciate that cut-off jeans aren’t acceptable.
My Joe wants to make sure that he is appropriately dressed.

Yes Formal attire … meaning not jeans or shorts… A shirt & tie, long or short dress what ever makes you comfortable… what ever you would normally wear to an evening wedding!
