The footbridge is still out of commission. Although inconvenient, I think city officials wise to wait out the storm season before repairing the bridge.

Thanks Anonymous–clouds were overhead where i was standing, but there was a patch of golden sunlight in the distance–not ever too challenging to find the beauty light here on Cape Ann!

The Footbridge of Life
thepoetryofpeteralberttodd.weebly.com
By Peter A. Todd
The ocean’s tide is a reflection of life
As our nights are turned into days
Young people with their hands clung tight
Searching their hearts for words to say
Children running and playing along the beach
Building Sand Castles of their dreams
The Elders crossing the bridge at day’s peak
Mirrored by the evening’s moonlight gleam
The ocean reaching into the shadowed sands
Erasing the footprints along its way
Night’s glistening moon, Mirror of God’s hand
Guiding nature’s course along the bay
The Footbridge of Life crosses the sands of time
That we in our hearts must not ignore
We must treasure life for all that it holds
For in its passing we gain Heaven’s shore

How do the dogwalkers get onto the beach? Is the parking lot open?

Yes, the parking lot is open (or at least it has been whenever I take our dog there). Also, if you are a resident, you can park on the far side of the beach, off of Salt Island Road.

The bridge has emotional meaning for many of us, and I understand the wall in Lane’s Cove is badly damaged as well. Is there a fund we can donate to?

Hi Carol,
I would imagine that repairing the footbridge is high on the Mayor’s and City’s list of priorities.
I haven’t heard anything about the Lanes Cove seawall and don’t recall seeing anything on GMG re. Perhaps if any readers know more about it they will write in.
