Three Waters

three waters copy

On Eastern Point there is a lovely stately home called Three Waters, so named because from the property the inhabitants can view the three separate waters of Gloucester Harbor, Niles Pond and Brace Cove.

One night recently I had a rare sleepless night during which the words “three waters” kept running across my mind like a broken record.  Muses can be very persistent and annoying sometimes.  When I got up the next morning, I spent the day creating this montage called “Three Waters”, using 22 different photo layers.  I have slept just fine since.

    1. I did teach Photoshop classes for artists when I was in East Boston, but mostly beginner stuff like basic editing and resizing of images for show submissions and preparing images for print. I could teach a class in this technique, and a few people have already expressed interest in learning, but people would have to have a basic working knowledge of Photoshop and be willing to spend alot of time practicing. It took me years of working with Photoshop and editing photos to be able to create these montages.

      1. EJ – it truly is gorgeous! Your work always is.

As far as classes go, I know how complex Photoshop can be – what if you offered beginner classes as a pre-req to anyone w/out experience prior to intermediate/advanced classes?

        1. Hi Evelyn – how are you? That actually is a good idea. I might put it out and see if people are interested. I could do a beginner class and another one for people who know Photoshop but want to learn montage.

    1. Thanks Sefatia. I hope to keep going with them until I’ve captured a glimpse of all the unique little pieces that make up Gloucester, and make it such an amazing place.

  1. It’s a lovely composite of photos, and you merged them beautifully. So creative! Kudos, E.J.
(I awoke one night with a poem swirling around in my head, and it flowed out of me like conversation, so I quickly wrote it down.) Inspiration often comes when we least expect it.
