I suppose I should add that the mistake was mine for not checking to see how much they were charging. If they can get $1.81 for a bottle of water and there are enough people like me who are too stupid to check the price then it’s not their fault, it’s mine.

Good Morning Gloucester 
Several years ago on my way to Fenway Park I bought that same bottle at a Store24 for 79¢. When I got to Fenway I found the same bottle for sale…or should I say ripp-off. $3.79 Now THAT was a tremendous value…fro Amarak and John Henry.

Thirty odd years ago, I did some work up at Poland Spring as they were expanding… Then Perrier started selling and I thought, “That’s it. The market is saturated. The American consumer just isn’t gonna pay that kind of money for something that comes out of a tap so cheap that it’s almost free….
That’s why I’m in engineering instead of marketing….. sigh….
I’ve been involved in bottling for almost forty years. It never ceases to amaze me what kind of stupid
ideas marketing can come up with that people witll buy…..

*1) You could go to the bathroom in their lysol protected lavatory.
*2) Free toilet paper and some squirty soap.
*3) You get to sit at a table.
*4) WIFI baby!

Embrace the tap water, bro. At DD my morning order’s a smallwithcreamonesugar and a cup of tap water with ice. Then you can spend that $1.81 on one of your extra lights with six Splendas.
It’s a good topic that deserves a whole ‘nother post: When we all stopped drinking free tap water and started paying big bucks for some company to put their tap water in a bottle so we could buy it from them.

I’m all about the free tap water.
Snoop Mad asked for water. Normally the Mrs buys cases of 24 at Market Basket for less than $4 for the 24 and has t hem in the car but we were out.
Next time Mad is gonna have to suck it up til we get home.

The way I look at it: Your daughter wanted water, she didn’t ask for soda (or tonic, as you say), or some other sugar filled item. It is well worth the $2 for her to be healthy and not sugar filled. I do get that it is outrageous to spend so much on bottled water, I’m just trying to see the sunny side.

Joey……..Plastic bottles aren’t good for you or the environment. I’m sure your girls would love a Kleen kanteen bottle, there are some really fun colors. They can fill up there water at home before going out for the day. Just an idea!

Get a frig with a water filter in it. Did anyone see the canteen bottle that has a narrow mouth and kids getting their tongues stuck and need surgery to save their tongues from dying. Careful what you buy. Manufacturer’s answer is to buy a top to fit it that you can insert a straw. I say they should be pulled off the shelves.

That’s a great question because the water in TCI was expensive at $2 a bottle at convenience stores and coffee shops and $24 for a case of 24 at the IGA grocery store.
The two dollar bottle in Turks even though we didn’t buy it was less offensive because you couldn’t buy $4 cases of 24 bottled waters at local grocery stores like you can here.

Back in the early eighties, I was having dinner in Cozumel with a bunch of people and we ordered agua mineral (bottled water) for the table. Flustered, the waiter left and promptly returned with the owner, who apologized that they were out and asked if we would mind having a round of beer instead — on the house, of course. On the menu, cerveza (beer) was cheaper than agua mineral — and that was 30 years ago!
