Uhmmmm, I’m Not Sure If It Was The GMG Promotion All Week But This Was The First Men’s Night I Recall That Did Big Business

Kudos For Downtown Merchants For Sticking With It and Keeping The Doors Open Late.

I’m Telling You Downtown Gloucester Is Just Getting Better and Better!

  1. This was a great night for us. I didn’t expect as many people on Men’s Night as we had on Ladies’ Night, which proved to be true. But the sales were surprisingly better than Ladies’ Night. But on this Men’s Night, we had lots of ladies too, and that made a difference. I think Main Street is benefiting from great new shops (Pop Gallery, Cape Ann Olive Oil, Premier Imprints, The Cave, Gauthier Gallery), the rest of us established anchors, and our great restaurants. Fifteen years ago, (myself included) and many other shops would not even be open for Ladies’ or Mens’ Nights. I’d like to give major credit for the Mens’ Night success to Joey C. of GMG, all the shopkeepers who list their events, and the GMG reporters who post photo stories of our events. It’s all about the community.

    1. I spoke to a ton of people who told me they wouldn’t have even known about Men’s Night if it weren’t for GMG.

      Putting money in peoples pockets!

      Makes me happy!

  2. I completely agree that GMG played a pivotal role in Mens’ Night success, as well as Ladies’ Night and I’m sure Friends and Family night will be huge, too. I did hear that Ladies’ Night brought in more money for the stores that I spoke with, but Mens’ Night was pretty good and much stronger than previous years. The energy and enthusiasm and fun was infectious all up and down Main Street.

I ended up getting into town close to 8pm, managed to hit The Bookstore where Arwen helped me pick out 3 presents which she wrapped while I ran to Fred’s Gallery (primarily to collect the coveted GMG coasters, thanks Fred and Felicia!), he gave me a FAB present idea for my Secret Santa (will post a pic once it is given as it’s a beauty), got a few other presents there, ran to Sugar Mags for some 20% off gift certificates for 3 more people on my list and ended up eating with the gang at The Franklin, which was packed and had a great band, it was really a good time. I wish I had time to get to more shops (what? Toodeloos was serving Tequila shots?! Nice!!), will try to make it earlier for F&F night on the 20th!

  3. We noticed a LOT of activity downtown for both men’s night and ladies’ night this year!!!!! It’s great to see downtown bustling. By the way…I went to Cape Ann Olive Oil and bought a whole bunch of gifts today. If you need inexpensive gifts for workers or acquaintances, they have a great selection.
