Anyone who knows their way around the North Shore knows that the opening scene from the Amazing Race when host Phil was on the rolling hill was Castle Hill In Ipswich and not Gloucester MA . The rest of the scenes from Eastern Point Yacht Club and Gloucester Harbor were shot in Gloucester but there was no mention of Ipswich in any of the show.
Much like the editing of Survivor, I simply refuse to believe that Jimmy T was angry the whole time he was on the show like they would have you believe by watching it. ANYONE who has been around Jimmy knows he is one of the funniest and warm hearted people you would ever want to meet.
The Mrs always scolds me when I talk about how skeptical I am of the way TV producers try to take you down a certain path in your mind trying to figure out what is going to happen next. my guesses are always opposite of what the producers would have you believe because I feel like they are editing for maximum shock value when the end results are shown. She’s always telling me “Can we just watch the show without all your conspiracy theories?” After watching these two shows, and being fans of both shows for years and now seeing what I know to be true turned on it’s head I think skeptical is the way to go.

Jeff literally showed up around 7:30PM and the sheer number of Gloucester locations that we squeezed in was outstanding. Huge thank you to Mark Ring who took us out on the Stanley Thomas to the Greasy Pole and Mike Tupper who caught the Albino lobster and allowed us to release it for the show(we had been holding it in our tanks so his father in law could see it).
Featuring Jeff Schroeder,Mark Ring,  The Rabbit, music from Benny Trouble,Eric Lorden and lobster and steak dinner at Passports,The Albino Lobster, The Greasy Pole, the Good Morning Gloucester Sticker(of course)designed by Beth Swan and printed by our boy Frank Ciolino, and your boy Joey.
Jeff Schroeder and Director Zsolt talk about their time in Gloucester MA from my basement where the crew spent their first night as the series kicked off. Jeff slept on my daughter Madeline’s beanbag chair in the center of children toy hell
Here are pictures and video from Day 1
Sleeping in the basement after doing shots of tequila at The Crows Nest- priceless!
Here is a video of Jeff in the basement after wrapping up Day One of CBS Around The World For Free and also Zsolt the director and one of three creators of the show talking about Gloucester and how high the bar has been set for the rest of the season.
Good Times!

Jeff Schroeder who just yesterday started his journey for CBS “Around The World For Free” had a choice- Eat The Lobster or Free The Lobster. Two envelopes with two very different outcomes for the rare crustacean. If he chose to Free The Lobster he would have to walk the Greasy Pole In Gloucester Harbor.
For those of you wondering the fate of the extremely rare albino lobster that we had landed at our dock at Captain Joe and Sons in Gloucester Ma, watch to see what becomes of the rare crustacean.

We hosted him at our house last night along with the crew, director and my boys The Rabbit and Benny Goodman.
But first we had a whole lot of fun in Gloucester.
When I first realized he was coming this way my first thought was to have him go lobstering on one of our boats but then midway through the afternoon the perfect idea for some good tv.
Any of our loyal readership knows about the triple pincher clawed lobster that we got at our dock last Saturday. it was the first one I had seen like that but we sold it off at the end of the night never really knowing where it was going or if it would be eaten the next day (which I have no problem with BTW). But some of our readers, the newspaper people and television people that came down to cover the story about the triple pincher clawed lobster all asked if we would let it go because it was a “special” lobster. We don’t take special measures to release these lobsters normally as the afternoons here are all about getting the lobsters in and out of the building as quickly as possible and of course to sell them to people that will pay the bill for said lobsters.
So when in the very same week one of lobstermen Mike Tupper aboard The Freemantle Doctor brought in an albino lobster one of only two I’ve ever seen in my entire life handling millions and millions of pounds of lobsters down here since I was a kid Mike asked if we could keep the lobster in the tank so he could show his father in law.
OK now here is where the idea came to me- We have Jeff make the decision since the name of the show is Around The World For Free- He could eat the special albino lobster and all the lobster he could eat or he would have to walk the Greasy Pole and earn the right to release the incredibly rare albino lobster back to the sea. I presented the two options in two envelopes One said EAT THE LOBSTER– The Other envelope said FREE THE LOBSTER.
Mark Ring, skipper of lobster boat The Stanley Thomas took us out to the Greasy Pole and Jeff made his decision-
Here is Jeff on the Greasy Pole taking some advice from my boy the Rabbit
Here he is on the pole-
More to come from our adventures in Gloucester including video, pictures at Passports, The Crows, Nest and of course the fate of the albino lobster.

Here is exclusive Video Shot At my Dock This Morning Showing the CBS Amazing Race Teams Boarding Gloucester Fishing Boats- The Jennie C, No Excuses, Karen Lynn, Tuna.Com, Lady J and Lady Lane.
IÂ accidentally call it the Great Race in the video but I know it’s called The Amazing Race.Â
You can see the teams dressed in different colors walking down the gangway to board the fishing boats at the State Fish Pier. Then they head out single file past the historic Paint Factory to Gloucester’s inner harbor where they passed by The Greasy Pole and Hammond Castle en route back to The Eastern point Yacht club where they disembarked and the race begins. On East Main Street one of the teams stopped the Mrs and her friends who just got out of a run-fit class for directions to Boston’s Logan Airport. She had to sign a release stating that she may be on TV.
One team stopped while in traffic on East Main St and rolled down their window. It was a good looking man and woman who asked how to get to Logan.  When the car stopped two cameramen popped out of SUV which was right behind the man and woman race team who were rolling seperately in a Smart Car. The cameramen and a microphone were shoved in the Mrs face and when she replied how to get to Logan the team told her not to speak to anyone else. Then they signed the releases and were off.
I’ll post many more pictures of the teams over the course of the next few days. if you are looking at the video right now at 6:58PM it may be fuzzy but the quality will improve within an hour when it is fully processed by YouTube.
