He said he heard it breathe when it lifted it’s back out of the water and it’s back came up about 6 or 7 times within 15 minutes or so. The skin was smooth and it was pure white, the whole animal.
What he saw was the back hump come out of the water and then the tail and the tail was split like two points. Can anyone ID what it could have been???

My father-in-law also saw it yesterday by the paint factory. He said it was a beluga whale. He’ll probably give more details later.

We were returning from a sail on the Ardelle with Harold Burnham at the wheel when we saw it. It was heading out just about by the Paint Factory. Harold tried to come about to follow it, but being under sail it was traveling too fast. We we not quick enough getting our camera out. It was a beautiful animal and did not seem confused at all, heading for the open sea. The Hurricane II was coming in behind us, from a whale watch and they seemed to get a good view.

I have an up close video of it coming right up to my boat. You can see it pretty clearly. Very cool

I also saw it in Smiths Cove, right out my window! I didn’t know what it was that I was seeing – only that it was very big and white. It surfaced twice, but by the time I got my camera on and focused on where I had seen it, a boat came in and apparently scared it away. Very cool. I have only seen whales twice in my life, and both times it has been in Smiths Cove.

I saw it in Gloucester Harbor on 6/21/14. Just sent my video to Channel 5. They will be airing it at 6pm today, 6/25. pretty cool
