This Friday, you can sit a couple of feet from Legendary Rock drummer Corky Laing of MOUNTAIN and WEST, BRUCE & LAING right down the road in Beverly at 9 Wallis. Friday’s show kicks off of Corky’s U.S. tour, having just come back from Europe.
You’ll be insanely close in a comfortable chair at a table — and you can have a beer, wine or specialty cocktail with vodka, gin, rum or whiskey made right here in Gloucester by our friends at Ryan & Wood Distilleries! Plus 9 Wallis is fully air-conditioned (I know you could care less today, but by Friday, you’ll feel differently). GET TICKETS HERE!
Here’s a taste of what you can expect along with a video of Corky with Mountain at Woodstock (just a few years ago 😉
Due to a scheduling conflict, we have moved the Celebrate Gloucester Benefit Concert featuring John Sebastian to Saturday, September 13 at the UU Meetinghouse. Get tickets here.
This is one more example of how things often work out despite my frustration when I found out about the conflict. The UU Meetinghouse a fitting venue given that this concert helps raise money for its restoration and the acoustics are excellent. But with no air conditioning, it wouldn’t have worked for an August concert. However, it’s perfect for September when the average high is 72 and low is 55 (it might be a little chilly at 8pm on the water that time of year) and the cushioned pews are quite comfortable.
This concert is a perfect opportunity to experience the music that helped define a generation up close and personal. Here’s a video of John Sebastian at Woodstock (45 years ago this August):
Very sad news has been reported just now from Zurich. More details here.
All of us who loved his music are in mourning.
Johnny Winter, you will be missed … your music lives on in us.

Once in a while it just happens. Seats that were sold or held for the band get released on the day of the show. Well, that just happened for tonight’s John Sebastian concert at The Larcom Theatre down the road in Beverly. We figure FOBs should have first crack at snatching them up before they’re gone. Get them here. They won’t last very long.
Were you at Woodstock? Wish you’d been there? Come see John Sebastian tonight and ask him what THIS was like (watch video if you want to know what I’m talking about)
