Participating artists Cape Ann Art Show Beauport Hotel Gloucester

Here is a digital who’s who catalogue with portraits of the participating artists and scenes from the inaugural Cape Ann Art Show at the Beauport Hotel Gloucester, MA. The art fair and the hotel were jumping on this gorgeous evening. Original works of art (not reproductions) were priced under $100 and up from there. The artists and the hotel were so well prepared and joyous, I was compelled to record their effort. Apologies if I missed anyone. I jotted down contact information and linked to artists when possible.

THE 2017 ANNUAL ROCKPORT GARDEN TOURS PROMISES TO BE BLOOMIN’ BEAUTIFUL!

ART IN BLOOM

The Rockport Garden Club invites you to attend its 2017 garden tour: Rockport in Bloom. This self-guided tour consists of 11 private gardens clustered in the three Rockport neighborhoods. Each garden celebrates the diverse geography of Rockport, from sweeping ocean vistas, to enchanting gardens with water features, to unique granite sculptures and arches evoking the legacy of the granite industry in Rockport.  Lunch, including a vegetarian option, is also available for your purchase and enjoyment in a seaside garden.  An additional feature for this year’s tour includes artists in the garden.  Several local artists will be painting ‘en plein air’ during the tour and are sponsoring a wine and cheese reception that will take place following the tour on Saturday, July 8th at the Rockport Community House, 58 Broadway from 4:00 to 8:30 pm. All are welcome.

Tour dates are: July 7 and 8 from 10am to 4pm each day. On tour days, tickets may be purchased at the Rockport Police Station (cash, check or credit card), 168 Main St. and Toad Hall Book Store (cash or check only), 47 Main St, Rockport, MA.  Tickets purchased in advance may be picked up at the police station. The tour is held rain or shine. Please see the RGC website: www.rockportgardenclub.org for additional information.

Artists to join Rockport in Bloom 2017!!
Rockport in Bloom will now be captured on canvas.  Our 2017
tour will see the addition of artists in the gardens! You will see
the garden through the artist’s eyes.  Watch as they transform a
garden into a lasting image showing what the homeowner and
“Mother Nature” have created. Look for the following artists on
the garden tour. Click on each artist for bios, artists work and
contact information.

Kathleen Miller Shows Hers!

 Kathleen Miller Shows Hers!

5th Submission in the series, “Show me yours and I’ll show you mine”

Kathleen Millers Paint Box

Cape Ann artist Kathleen Miller brings along her paint box for outdoor painting. The box sits either on the ground or on her lap, with her palette board attached to an easel setup as she paints. The paint box is an essential piece of equipment, containing everything she needs, except the canvas. In it, Kathleen packs her vibrant Gamblin oil paints, flat and filbert (rounded) brushes, and two pallete knives. “Almost all of the paintings I do in the summer are plein air (done outside),” Kathleen says. “I love painting all types of subject matter, although I’m especially drawn to the water.  Typically, I paint in the late afternoon, which has really nice lighting effects.” When asked to share a funny experience that happened to her while painting on location, she told about a time that she was set up at Stage Fort Park and a rat ran over her foot.  In spite of that, she made a beautiful painting of Half Moon Beach. “You never know what will happen when you paint outside!” she laughed. “You might end up with a beautiful painting with bugs stuck in it…  That’s just part of the experience!”  Her style, in her own words: “My feelings, expressed in color and design, are more important in my paintings than subject matter.” She likes to make small paintings, although she does larger works as well. Kathleen Miller currently has 57 original oil paintings displayed at Bodin Historic Photo & Fine Art in downtown Gloucester. You can look at Kathleen’s work on:
