All the fields are in steady use. Gloucester Public School GHS practices and games for many sports utilize the fields year round, boys and girls. Flag Football (not GPS-GHS run) use the fields on the weekends. Community members walk and run to stay in shape. I wish it was used for recess and gym.  Thank you to volunteers and donors who added amenities and care with the city for super green spaces city wide. Some of the good eggs that helped O’Maley are mentioned on the contributors sign of the Sandy Tucker Memorial Building, “Home of the Riverdale Rockets.”

The landscape design was  well done when the school was built. Dramatic skies and expansive natural amphitheater are memorable bleachers.

Early vision proposal for Mill River area that became O’Maley is pretty accurate to the built out site  (30 acre+ middle school site was estimated to cost $4,500,000 in 1971 which roughly equates to 28 million in 2017.) I’ll write more about the history of the O’Maley design and properties.

Manchester Essex Field Hockey wins Semi Final!

Playing on a neutral field at Reading High School, the Manchester Essex Hornets took on the Ipswich Tigers in  MIAA State Field Hockey Tournament Semi-Finals. In a hard fought first half the Tigers broke through first for a 1-0 lead but before halftime  the Hornets were able to score the equalizer. In the second half both teams continued playing great defense and getting/allowing few scoring opportunities. The Hornets held a decided edge in penalty corners but had a tough time converting for scores.  Manchester Essex did get a few more chances and managed to make one count for the 2-1 lead.  The Hornets worked hard to preserve the win despite a strong finishing Ipswich attack. The Hornets move on to the finals of the State Tournament where they will face the perennial powerhouse Watertown. Game will be played at North Andover High School Saturday November 9th at 11:00.

Today’s Game (NOVEMBER 1st) Cancelled- The Team Remains UNDEFEATED!!!!!!

Hi Joey,
Here are a bunch of pictures from the NEC Championship Meet/Jim Munn Invitational.  One of the parents was kind enough to take pictures throughout the meet.  There were over 1600 athletes who ran in the meets.

A great day for Gloucester and the O’Maley teams finished 3rd for the girls and 6th for the boys.
