Aurelia Nelson, host of Curtain Up on North Shore 104.9 invited Allen Estes and his son, Dylan, for her special Father’s Day show that will air tomorrow, SUNDAY, at 9am.
They perform together and talk about the role of music in their lives — and ours. It’s worth getting up early for.
Gloucester’s Bob Quinn, who has been going to Good Harbor for the past 80 years, tours the dunes of Good Harbor Beach and comments on the poundin’ it took this winter.
Here is a clip from the half –hour show that airs all week on Cape Ann TV Channel 12.
Show airs: Monday (tonight) at 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.; Wednesday at 9:30 p.m.; Thursday at 8:30 p.m.; Friday at 12:30 p.m. and Saturday at 5:00 p.m. See Channel Listings for more Cape Ann TV Shows.
Even though there’s still snow on the ground, it’s not too early to be thinking about swimming at Good Harbor. So, to get you in the mood, here’s a very up-beat song Allen Estes wrote last Summer and performed on Local Music Seen.
Speaking of Allen, he’s appearing at Giuseppe’s this Thursday for the second week of the Singer Songwriter Shuffle along with his son Dylan and other local favorites Inge Berge, Steve Caraway, Marina Evans, Jon Waterman and Joe Wilkins.
But don’t wait until Thursday. Lots of live music on Cape Ann all week long. See here!
Then catch the Local Music Seen with Allen Estes 2011 Christmas Special at 11pm on Cape Ann TV Channel 12 (originally aired last year) featuring Dan King, Daisy Nell & Capt. Stan, Ann Marie, Bradley Royds, Inge Berge, Chelsea Berry, Dave Sag, Courtney Reid and Allen’s son Dylan Estes. Here’s a video of many of the performers singing Santa Claus is Coming to Town. (see more air times here)
Of course, there’s lots of other excellent music in town (not necessarily Christmas — see full schedule here), including Dennis Monagle with Marina Evans, Joe Cardoza and Dave Brown at Minglewood Tavern starting at 9pm.
Joey certainly got it right in his Monday post about Ladies Night. Downtown Gloucester is absolutely the place to be tomorrow (Thursday).
And if you need a break from your local shopping (that supports our local economy), mosey on down to the Gloucester House some time between 8 and 10:30 to catch Allen Estes with his son, Dylan ~ two good looking guys with great voices and songs that will warm your heart.
Have something to eat, a few drinks and then get right back out there and, as Joey says, drop some cash.
Meanwhile, there’s great live music all over Cape Ann tonight too — and plenty for the guys tomorrow if you want to get away from the ladies. Check it all out here.
There are simply too many excellent live music choices tonight. That’s the bad news. The good news is that shows start at 5pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm. That means, if you work it out just right you can get to 4 or 5 excellent shows. They’re all free and all within walking distance.
And then there’s TV — cable, that is. Local Music Seen with Allen Estes is airing a special show that premiered in the summer featuring 3 generations of the Estes Family all on stage at the same time. It’s kind of like a peek into the family living room. Catch it at 6:30pm tonight on Cape Ann TV Channel 12 — or if you’re out, you can tape it and watch it when you get back. Here’s a sneak peek:
Yesterday we told you about the Cape Ann Musicians performing at The Hive on Sunday 4-midnight to help raise money Superstorm Sandy victims in The Rockaways. We said the lineup would change, and so it has. Here’s the latest lineup, which now includes Satch Kerans and Allen Estes who will perform with his son Dylan. It seems like every minute, more musicians are jumping on board to help out, so stay tuned . . .
But don’t wait for Sunday. Over 20 live music choices tonight and tomorrow (and you thought this was the slow season!) See the complete weekend live music lineup here.
They talked about music, songwriting, touring — and who knows what else. What deal do you think they sealed with that handshake? Maybe we’ll see Toby Keith on an upcoming Local Music Seen with Allen Estes show on Cape Ann TV next time he’s in New England. Stay tuned . . .
You all know Allen Estes, right? You may not know that he has a tremendously talented son, Dylan, who is performing Saturday at the N9NE on TH1RT3EN show at The Landing in Manchester along with a number of local favorites, including Marina Evans, who just released her new EP called Dogtown.
So we figured this would be the perfect week to reprise the Local Music Seen show on which Dylan appears with his father. They sing together and Dylan performs some of his own songs, which truly transcend generations.
You can see the show tomorrow (Wednesday 10/10) at 6pm on Cape Ann TV Channel 12 — and again on Friday at 1:30 and Sunday at 6pm. Check out this video of a song from the show:
It’s really a big week for music on Cape Ann with about 60 artists at well over a dozen venues. See the complete list of live music in Gloucester and all around Cape Ann here.
Here’s something you don’t see (or hear) every day — father & son performing together with voices that blend this beautifully. In this video, Allen & Dylan Estes sing one of Allen’s classic songs on his show Local Music Seen. Tomorrow (Sunday) you can see them at Giuseppe’s — and they’re even better live! You might want to call ahead to be sure you get a seat. Music starts at 6pm. Take your kid(s) and get inspired.
Now for tonight. It’s time to get out and DANCE! Gloucester is HOT tonight with all kinds bands ready to ROCK! Take your pick or try to fit them all in. Whew! Check out the hot music lineup here.
