Pet of the Week- Roxy

Stop right there! I gotta know right now…do you love me, will you love me forever? Ok so maybe Meatloaf lyrics aren’t always the best way to introduce a lovely young lady but it sure did get your attention! I am the only girl in a litter of three. My brothers Zafi and Grey are both looking for homes here as well and we are all super excited to be starting new life adventures. I am a quiet sort of feline, mellow and sweet. I spent time in a foster home where I lived with my siblings and other cats, 4 small dogs and children. We all got along with them well. So if you give me the time to settle in and feel secure then I will give you a lifetime of love and companionship! My name is Roxy, so don’t forget to seek me out when you hit the adoption floor! Pet of the Week- Felix

Do you enjoy travel and cruising around and are looking for someone who would enjoy car rides as much as you do? Well then here I am! I love going for rides, just sitting in the seat and watching the world go by, maybe I was born for an RV lifestyle? Felix here and considering myself a lucky guy for getting to travel from Georgia up here to Massachusetts to find a new family I can relish as my own! I am a very affectionate fellow and want to be part of your day. I get along great with the other pooches here and don’t mind having other small dog roommates here so wouldn’t mind sharing my new home with a canine sibling or two. I spent some time in foster before traveling here and my foster family had this to say. “Felix was sort of needy and whiny his first few nights in my home but once he figured out the schedule and what was expected of him he settled right in. Felix is very well crate trained, and walks great on the leash. He is not 100% house-trained but does well with supervision. He really loves attention but likes to explore too. I have never seen him react negatively to anything or anyone. I honestly think that Felix would be a great addition to any home that plans to treat him with patience and positive, consistent reinforcement. He is so very special and deserving of a posh life in his older years!” So what do you say, take a chance on me? Pet of the week- Larry

My name is Larry and I’m looking for a family to call my own. I’m what the people here call a “Super Senior” and my super power is lovability. I love catnip toys, lounging on sunny windowsills, and rumor has it I’m also a great mouser! I’m a very gentle soul and I can come off as a bit reserved initially, but once I get to know you my personality really shines. I love getting scratched behind my ears and will head butt you to let you know I want more. I’d love nothing more than to curl up next to you on the couch and take in all the love. I’m not always a fan of other cats and in my previous home the dogs would sometimes bully me, so my ideal home would be one where I can be your one and only. If you’re interested in meeting me, come on down! To see all of the available animals at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org

Pet of the Week- Nene

Hi… I know everyone could use a Buddy… lucky for you, that’s my aim in life! So, a little more about me, my name is Nene and I am about 3 years old (I lost my day planner during all my shuffling around, so I’m not exactly sure of my birthdate), I’ve had to find a new home since my previous owner lost their home and could no longer keep me. I walk nicely on the leash (and the veterinarian said I was a little plump so I could use a walking partner), I get along nicely with the other dogs and love to play with my toys.

I am a busy fellow with a stronger personality so would love a dog experienced home with children in their teens and older. I don’t take up too much room and, I don’t make too much noise, well I will do some alarm barking to let you know visitors have arrived. Make a boy’s dreams come true and take me home with you… I do have a luxating patella which makes me a special needs adoption. Luxating patella’s are pretty common in small breeds. As long as you watch my weight (I’ve already lost 3 pounds!!) and do not enroll me any Olympics, we should be good. The shelter of course always recommends you monitor the condition with your own veterinarian. Pet of the week – Gemma

Gema has been staying in foster and her foster mom has this to say. “She has been a perfect guest except for an occasional chase of the chickens, too much fun to resist. She doesn’t seem to want to harm them just hard to pass up. At my home she is sharing with several other dogs and has had no issues with food, toys or beds. She is perfectly housebroken and goes outside when needed. Gema has been sleeping at night on a dog bed and is quiet all night. She is not interested in playing with the other dogs but also isn’t interested in causing any trouble, she tries to avoid conflict if possible. She is a climber and still has the urge to escape if something startles her, so, not a pooch who can be left out in the yard alone. She really wants company and is happiest with people around.

I would say she would make a perfect pet for someone who is home or works from home or she could even go to work with someone. Gema is a special needs adoption because she had a heartworm infection that was treated but will need follow up with a veterinarian and when she first arrived in our care here at the shelter she had a lot of anxiety about being crated or left alone. With lots of time, patience and the help of some anxiety medication she has learned to settle in a variety of environments and relax enough to start to enjoy life and making new friends. Please come in and visit Gema she is very special. Pet of the Week- Snickers

Snickers is what they call me here! I am a sweet and reserved fellow. I am an adult rescue from down south so everything up here is new from the taste of the water to the sound of your accents! I am an affectionate guy. I just like folks to go a bit slower when they come to visit me. It helps me feel more relaxed if things aren’t moving fast and hectic. I am nervous around cars so need more practice walking by them and climbing in and out of them, food rewards and patience go a real long way. The folks here think I am about 3 years old and I was lucky enough to travel here from the south, just so I could find my family! No one knows my whole history but the folks here believe I am a boxer mix. I am considered a special needs adoption because shortly after being rescued it was realized that I had heartworm. I was a good boy through my treatment and am ready to be adopted but the folks here want my new parents to be aware that they will need to restrict my exercise for a while so just leash walks for us and follow up with their own veterinarian to make sure my treatment was successful. I am looking for a family with children 12 years and older and who is ready for their next great love.

So what do you say, are you willing to take a chance on me? To see all of the available dogs and cats at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the Week-Debbie Rey

debbie-rey

Snuggle time anyone?!  I love to get attention and I am happy to make you feel like the most important person in the world.  I am a little love-bug who has a sweet and mellow nature.  I got to spend a few nights in foster during the last snow storm and I am proud to report I was an excellent girl!  I went outside in the yucky snow to do my bathroom business.  I got along well with the cats that lived there.  I didn’t chase them at all and was not impressed with their efforts to try to get me to misbehave.  I have lived with and gotten along with other dogs as well so sharing my home with some other furry friends sounds just fine to me. I love soft beds and pillows to curl up on and like any self respecting Chihuahua I can burrow under the blankets like a champ!

I am a super sweet, quiet and perfectly sized little lady looking for love. I am a rescue from Puerto Rico so no one knows my history but that’s why they call it history, right? I’m letting my past stay in my past and putting my best paw forward on my search for true love.

Think we could be a good match? Then come meet me today!!   To see all the available animals at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the Week- Alvin

Hmmm ….so am I cat named after a chipmunk or is it just a cute name? Alvin at your service. Tuna and treats are always a good way to make friends. I am a young adult looking for a life-partner. How about you? Looking for a pal who will listen to your day without interrupting? Someone who will help keep you company while you read, watch TV or while you respond to all that silly electronic beeping and buzzing on your phone? Me, I am looking for someone to scratch my chin, fill my dish, keep warm and safe indoors and who promises to always stick by my side! To see all available dogs and cats at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the Week- Buddy

Are you looking for a sweet and bashful fellow? A true lover at heart with a mellow nature? A boy that gets along with others and has a playful side? Well we might be purr-fect for each other!

I am a rescue from outdoors. Some sweet souls took me in after I had been hanging about for months and their home was already filled with pets so they didn’t have a permanent spot for me but they made sure I was cared for, safe and loved until I got my chance to come to the shelter. I have lived outdoors and as a Tom cat I did my share of adventuring and I am happy and confident to say that is out of my system!

As a result of those reckless days of my youth I am FIV positive so considered a Special needs adoption. Many cats live long healthy lives with FIV especially if kept indoors and healthy. FIV affects the immune system so makes me more susceptible to colds, virus and other disease. Life is a gamble any way you look at it. Ready to roll the dice on me?

Pet of the Week-Jasper

Jasper here. I am happy to meet you and why yes, I would love to join you for a stroll. Snacks? But of course, one of my favorite things to do is nibble and lounge. I am an affectionate boy with a true Shih Tzu nature and heart.

I am looking for a dog savvy home, one who isn’t going to let me take over the couch but will teach me that when invited I can share what is theirs. Life is all about lessons and compromise and I am ready for my turn to learn and find the perfect match for me. I am looking for an adult home, preferably one that adores Shih Tzu’s! I tend to guard high value items. So no bones for this boy! I am also considered a Special Needs adoption because I also have a hypothyroid. I take one pill 2 x a day and I’m A OK! If you think you could fill the empty space in my life then what are you waiting for?

Hurry on in and let’s get to getting to know each other right away! To see all available animals at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please visit our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the week-Chrisley

Hello my name is Chrisley and I am a sweet, playful Husky that was lucky enough to be pulled from a kill shelter in Georgia just in time. They are guessing I am about 5 years old but I am very playful and just love people. If you are familiar with the breed and know what that involves please come on down and meet me.

I am a smart boy and know my basic commands as well, sit, shake, and stay. When I was originally rescued from the shelter in Georgia I had been having some digestive issues. They discovered I have a little bit of acid reflux (which I am sure some of you can relate to) so I take Pepcid (famotidine) daily and that helps. I also am fed 3 meals and my digestive system seems to do well with this type of schedule. I am considered a special needs adoption because I may always have a sensitive digestive system or need additional veterinary care. I was briefly around cats and did not seem to be too interested but because of my breed, I should never be left alone with a cat. As an adult rescue without too much known about my past I am looking for a home with children 10 and older. If I seem like a good fit for your family and lifestyle please stop on by and visit.

We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and say thank you for your continued support of our shelter.

Pet of the week-Luna

Super Senior Luna here and my super power is “Gaze of Grace.” I am a sweet lady and I enjoy gentle pets under the chin and curling up next to you for a nice long cat nap. I have a gentle soul and I can’t wait to find a home to live the rest of my days out. I am a bit shy and can take some time to get used to new places and people. So I am looking for a home with more of an adult slant (children in their teens) who understand I will need space to settle in. I am considered a special needs adoption because when I arrived here they did some bloodwork and a few of my levels were off. They spoke to the vet and he said I am just fine to be adopted out but my new family will need to follow up with their vet to re-check my bloodwork. I also had to have all my teeth extracted due to gingivitis, it has not changed my eating habits and I am much more comfortable. The folks here tell me there is no further treatment necessary for the gingivitis but they wanted my new family to be aware. Do you have the space in your home and heart for a senior lady like me? Then stop by and visit today! To see all available animals at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org

Giving Tuesday & Pet of the week Peanut

On this #GivingTuesday don’t forget to donate to local non-profits, like Cape Ann Animal Aid! Your donations help many needy animals like Peanut below.

Beautiful and loving Peanut here! I am a sweet lady looking for a place to call her own! Unfortunately, my family was moving and wasn’t able to take me along. Thankfully the folks here were able to take me in to find me a new home! I get a little stressed out when I move into new places and I tend to hide but once I get settled in I love attention of my humans. I have lived with a dog and another cat and didn’t seem to mind sharing my space with either. So, I wouldn’t mind having another four legged friend to share my home with.

Pet of the week- Bella

Hi! My name is Bella! I am a beautiful shepherd hound mix looking for the perfect family to pamper me! I arrived at the shelter along with my eleven puppies. Now that they have all found homes of their own, it’s my turn. I am an active girl and I’ve been spending a lot of time out in the play yard and on the trails to get my girlish figure back. I would love a family that is able to bring me on plenty of walks! I had been focusing on preparing for my puppies arrival and caring for them after their birth that I haven’t had much time to learn many tricks. I promise if you take the time to teach me I will learn. So what do you think, do I sound like a good match? I get along well with other dogs, love every person I have met so far and I have a nose for adventure! Pet of the Week-Sapphira

Sapphira here! Pleased to meet you! I was brought to the shelter along with my siblings, Hazel and Lily, because our owner was moving and was no long able to keep us.

I have lived with other cats and a Chihuahua and did not mind their company. I have always been an indoor cat and would prefer to be kept safe inside your home. I am a bit shy but I do enjoy petting every once and a while. I have not lived with children before so I am looking for home a home with older children (10 years or older).

Are you ready to take me home? Then stop by and visit me today! For information on all of the animals available at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the Week- Mister

Hello! Mister is my name! I am a sweet, yet shy fellow looking for the perfect family to take me home. I can be a little unsure when first meeting new people and it may take me some time to feel comfortable around you. Yet once I do, I promise to be the best snuggler you have ever met! I am a little quirky and enjoy hanging out under a blanket or bed, but it’s only because I enjoy being nice and warm. Do you have the space to take a sweet adult kitty like me home? Then stop by and visit with me today! I have FIV, which means my immune system is compromised. With someone to love and care for me, to keep me safe indoors and well fed, I have just as good a chance as the next guy to live a long and happy life. FIV makes me a “Special” adoption. I say special is right because anyone getting to take me home is one lucky human! For information on all the animals available at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please visit our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the week- Alex

Alex here and full of energy! I love checking out new toys and going for adventures in the park, around the block, in the car and up the mountain. I am an active and intelligent little guy looking for his match in love, life and the everyday! I don’t know exactly what my breed mix is but the folks here suspect I have dachshund relatives with maybe some terrier types mixed in. I am about a year and a half old so I still have plenty of puppy energy pent up in this little body but I am maturing and I should pick up on new tricks quick! I am looking for a family with some dog experience and one with children 14 years and older. I definitely have a small dog personality and can be a little bossy but a whole lot of fun! If you like that terrier personality and enjoy training then I am your guy.

Pet of the week- Sweets

My name is Sweets and loving is my game. I was surrendered for adoption when my family sold all my puppies now, it’s my turn to be the center of attention.

I have put all that behind me now and am looking straight ahead. I am a laid back lady looking for leisurely strolls around the neighborhood followed by a quick trip to the local Ice Cream shop where I hear most give out FREE doggie cones! I mean, come on…. who wouldn’t want that. I get along great here with other dogs and love all the staff. So if you happen to have a free couch to share come on in and see me.

For information on all of the available cats and dogs at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please visit our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

The shelter right now is in need of “PATE STYLE” cat food. Thank you.

Pet of the week- Sashimi

I was originally rescued by the MSPCA from a hoarding situation. There were lots of us cats and all of us were feeling very shy and under-socialized so several different rescue groups and shelters worked together to find us all spots to go where we could get the extra care we would need. I and 3 of my feline family were able to come here!
As you can imagine when we first arrived we were all feeling pretty shy and overwhelmed. I took a little while to get comfortable but with lots of patience, coaxing and yummy treats I started to trust the people here and came out of my shell.
I am considered a Special Needs adoption because I have a head tremor. This tremor has been present since I arrived and has not changed at all since I have been here. I eat, sleep, play and socialize just like the other kitties only I do it with a bit of a wobble. My veterinarian can’t say for sure what is causing my head tremor without doing all sorts of special and really expensive testing but because the tremor hasn’t changed and doesn’t affect my quality of life he said I can get a chance to find a family to call my own and consider myself a Special Needs adoption candidate! I’m a quiet fellow who enjoys the finer things in life like sunny windowsills, climbing up a cat tower, playing with toys and getting attention from my people. I am looking for a family willing to take home a Special Needs animal and with my shyer nature I am looking for a home with older children or adults. I had a rough start in life and I am looking forward to a bright future with you!
