Vickie and Peter Van Ness report-
The Gloucester Fireworks Committee just cancelled tomorrow’s fireworks due to weather predictions (see Gloucester Times article here), but the Horribles Parade and free concert are still on in the hopes that weather will clear up.
Music featuring Cape Ann Big Band and The Runaround Sound will begin after the parade passes by the Boulevard stage (probably around 7:00pm) and continue until 11:00pm with a spectacular laser light show somewhere in between.
So come out and enjoy the parade and free concert. Let’s show all those people visiting from out of town that bad weather predictions aren’t enough to spoil our fun!

On Sunday April 28th a group of Generous Gardeners will be cleaning up the gardens to the right of the Fisherman’s Wives statue. We are going to be including these gardens in the garden tour to benefit the city Harborwalk and other Gloucester gardens on July 13th. Everyone would like these gardens need to look terrific, so plants need to be divided and weeded. There is also a new empty bed that can be filled with these divisions.
Are you available for a few hours to help? We will be there at 9:00 am. Gloucester High Honor Society students will receive community service credit hours. No gardening experience necessary. We will provide gardening gloves if you need them.
Contact Susan@generousgardeners.com with any questions or to sign up to help.
Hi Joey, Do your readers remember the Easter Parades on the Boulevard?
My family won a prize in 1960. Pictured are Virginia (Frontiero) and Robert McKinnon and our children, twins in carriage, Roberta and Regina, Lola, Mary-Ellen and Hilary.
I made the matching outfits for my two oldest children. Later we were blessed with two more children, Michael and Carol. We will be celebrating our 60th Wedding Anniversary this year.

Here is brand new Stacy Boulevard, as photographed by Gloucester’s Alice M. Curtis. In 1924 they called it the "Double Drive." I’ll bet it was the latest traffic technology, designed to move a lot of automobiles, as this was the only road onto Cape Ann at the time. The project took less than two years to complete.
This photo was emailed to me by Mary White of Gloucester.

Who can come up with a present day photo from the same perspective with the same houses we can identify from the 1922 photo from Mary White.
The flags on the Boulevard have been erected for the 10th summer,
