It has become an unstoppable tradition. So very festive and fun. Sister Linda and Brother J.B. jump on

a brand new Christmas tune to showcase, Linda knocks us out every year, J.B. has his own surprises in
store… and the rest is future history. Let us sit by Fred’s cozy, imaginary fire and toast to a bright holiday
season and the wonderful friendships we all share on this tiny island! It kicks off early… 7-10pm. ~ Fly

Hello everyone!
Fly and I are excited to come together in song this week in support of Pathways for Children, a local nonprofit whose mission — to educate, empower, and support local children and their families — is vital to our community. Every year, Pathways partners with local businesses for its annual toy and book drive, and has distributed over 1,000 toys to local children & families enrolled in their programming. This drive is special because it is truly neighbors helping neighbors: all toys and books donated stay in our North Shore community. So please, join us this Wednesday – come for the tunes, stay for the good cheer, and if you can, bring a new, unwrapped toy or book to donate!
See you there, and thanks! – Marina

Sax Gordon Returns to The Rhumb Line for Dave Sag’s Blues Party this Thursday 8:30pm 12.17.2015

Well, just in time for the holiday seasoning, let’s get behind the one and only exploding Takata® airbag of the blues, Mr. Gordon “Sax” Beadle. With his projectile format and penchant for snake charming, this is the guy to take you into the Twilight Zone. Make you forget about that credit card bill due in January. He’s bringing along that nun-eating master of the qatar, Mr. Mike DiBari and the world’s foremost dribbler and fontman, Mr. Ed “Ed” Scheer to boot. Could be my ultimate agglomeration. I love working with these guys and I promise I’ll be better next year. Honest! Really, don’t miss this one! After This Thursday, We’ll be off until January 7, when the good Old Salty Jazz Band returns for some musical mayhem.

Thank You from Holidays & Wintertide!

chelsea and friends

4 years ago, during the early Fall, Chelsea Berry and I were trying to come up with a great way to utilize a small chapel in Manchester-by-the-Sea for a performance. The idea was a Christmas show that became known as “Holidays & Wintertide.”

Our 4th annual production was this past Saturday night, and for the first time, the show took place in Gloucester. On behalf of Chelsea Berry, Renee Dupuis, Brian Alex, Joe Cardoza, Dennis Monagle and myself, I would like to say “Thank You, Gloucester and Cape Ann!”

The night was magical, the songs were perfect and the audience was divine, so I would like to take a moment to send out some thank yous:

To Chelsea, Renee, Brian, Joe & Dennis : It was an absolute honor to work with you on this years’ show. I was blown away – as I believe everyone else was. There were moments that literally brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for your professionalism, your kindness, and for sharing your talent and holiday spirit with all of us.

To Dawn Caraway and the Tavern on the Harbor: Thank for saving the day and for your remarkable hospitality in the most beautiful of settings. When we realized our past venue was unavailable, you stepped up and gave us a home, and I hope you will have us back next year. Your room is spectacular, and the acoustics are shockingly crisp… more shows to come.

To Louise Welch: You are my personal and musical Dalai Lama. You do so much for me (and the Cape Ann music community), and we are very fortunate to have you as part of our community. Thank you for always being my production sidekick and making this show such a success.

Thank you to Mark Rahilly for running sound and making the show sound exceptional. To Peter Hoare, who has worked with me on this show from the start, thank you for your production help and sharing your equipment. To Lisa Hubbard, thank you for your magic touch in making the set look so good. And to Joanne Silva, thank you for your continued promotion of my productions and all of the great musical events on Cape Ann. You are another shining jewel in the crown of Gloucester’s music scene.

Lastly, to the people of Gloucester and beyond, thank you for coming out and making the night so special for the performers and for me. This has always been my favorite production of the year, and this year was better than ever. We know you have a lot of choices in live music throughout Cape Ann, and the music community appreciates it when music-lovers come together to support a paid performance. It’s a tough environment out there for professional musicians, but your show of support for events like this reminds performers why they are on this path and doing the thing they love.

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or any other holiday, I hope it is/was merry, healthy and bright

And to all a goodnight.

Ricky “King” Russell Tonight! Dave Sag’s Blues Party @ The Rhumb Line Thursday 8:30pm 12.10.2015

dave-sag-rl-4-3-2014-1 (2)

Got a brand new guy to unwrap on you this Thursday: Mr. Johnny BlueHorn neé Morriconi or something like that. Been hearing about this dude for years, had a chance to play with him recently and he just knocked me out. Get this: he toots the trumpet and sings and basically sends one into the stratosphere. Love his toons. A real showman! Not only that, but our old buddy Ricky “Burger King” Russell will be returning on guitar and vocals after a long recovery from cosmetic surgery. I’ve missed him! Hope I recognize him! Drum chores filled in by the spattering pile driver hisself: Mr. Ephraim Lowell. Or is it E-frame? E-mail? I dunno, but he does. I’ll be there, too!

RUSTED ROOT PLUS ROOTS OF CREATION This Thursday Dec. 3rd 8pm doors open at 7pm @ The Cabot in Beverly MA.

rusted root

PRESENTED BY M.E. PRODUCTIONS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CABOT

World rockers RUSTED ROOT have been bringing people together since the early ’90s. With undeniably infectious anthems like “Send Me On My Way” and “Ecstasy,” they’ve captured hearts and minds while spreading their peaceful message around the world. The quintessential live band, Pittsburgh’s Rusted Root continues to perform high energy shows around the globe to sold out crowds.

Having collaborated for two decades, Rusted Root has honed the perfect combination of musical intuition, freedom and virtuosity, which has allowed them to organically shape their music into it’s own distinct and undeniable vision. With eight albums under their belt, over three million records sold and countless nights on the road, Rusted Root transcends age, cultures and musical styles. The members of Rusted Root are drawn to and have explored virtually every form of music. “I am very inspired vocally by anything from Indian to African to Middle Eastern sounds and scales having grown up with a lot of Hebrew music” Liz Berlin notes. Michael Glabicki cites the Bee Gees, Elvis Costello, Neil Young, Toni Childs, Black Keys, Black Sabbath and various Afro Pop music as among his influences. Combining a jam aesthetic and a global mindset, Rusted Root combines World influences into a transcontinental brew. The powerhouse ensemble’s hypnotic live performances have allowed them to tour alongside Santana, Dave Matthews Band, The Allman Brothers Band, Plant & Page and many others.

Rusted Root brings down the house every time they hit the stage, and we’re proud to welcome them to the Cabot!JUST ADDED: ROOTS OF CREATION!

“From addictive reggae pop songs to consciously charged roots rhythms and berserk electronic improvisations, the grace and precision with which ROC executes their bass-heavy works is overwhelming. Their roots are tinged with rock, their rock brushed with electronica, and they’re as likely to dash off into a 10-minute guitar-led groove as they are to perform righteous vocal songs that resonate like the roots-rock classics of old” wrote Homegrown Music Network.

2013 New England Music and Cider Magazine Award Winners, Roots of Creation, mixes roots and dub reggae with guitar-heavy rock and electronica, all wrapped around lead singer/guitarist Brett Wilson’s introspective and consciousness-laden lyrics.

The band is raising the bar at every performance with the intent of delivering a true rock show cleverly disguised as a reggae dance bash with psychedelic and energizing lights.  The techno-beam and LED tube lighting increases the already high-energy sound that Roots of Creation (RoC) brings to their audiences.

RoC’s newest release, Live at Bella Terra Festival (. . . And Stoned at Church), captures the band, during a 10 show tour, from the east coast to Chicago to Eastern Canada in August 2011.  The stop at Bella Terra in Stephentown, New York allowed RoC to perform a high-profile slot directly after the headliner, The Mickey Hart Band.  As thousands of fans poured from the main stage over to the late-night tent, RoC delivered a truly unique musical experience with thumping reggae bass lines, piercing guitar licks, and an electronic-dub sound only this band could create.  RoC travels with their own lighting designer, who put on a show of techno beams and LED tubes to match the music and vibe of Bella Terra as lead singer Brett Wilson demanded the crowds’ attention with his soulful lyrics and revolutionary calls.

Roots of Creation is made up of original members guitarist/lead singer Brett Wilson, keyboard player Tal Pearson, and drummer Mike Chadinha.  RoC is currently touring with a rotating arsenal of bassists, horns, and auxiliary members to blow the audience away by enhancing the overall sound and energy. The band formed in 2001 with Wilson, Pearson, Chadinha and former bassists while attending Franklin Pierce College and began touring heavily in 2004. RoC also tours with a rotating arsenal of horns to blow the audience away by enhancing the overall sound and energy.
