Fenway’s Hallowed Walls

If there’s one thing you can bank on, it’s that I will subject you to some Fenway Park photos each April.

I love baseball, but far more importantly, I love Fenway Park.  I think I’ve said before that there truly isn’t an inch of the park that I haven’t photographed and I am in love with its nooks and crannies.

While it has been fun to photograph the players and the games…I am much more passionate about the history inside those hallowed walls.

Through Grand Slams, walk-off homers, an “in the park home run”, World Series, Rolling Rally Parades, and so many more tremendous moments…my favorite moments are those when I have had the park to myself.  I have clocked some serious hours just roaming around Fenway on sunny summer days and, as cliche as it sounds, I swear those walls can talk.

Don’t miss out on Martha Davis and The Motels with Ruby Rose Fox opening @ The Larcom Theatre on April 22,2015

Martha Davis and The Motels

Her voice is unique, unmistakable and timeless. Already sold out at TCAN in Natic, Martha Davis and The Motels burst into Beverly on April 22 for one night only!

Don’t miss the band that defined MTV with their top 10 hits “Only the Lonely,” “Suddenly Last Summer,” “Total Control,” “Take the L out of Lover” and more.

“…arguably the most charismatic female performer in rock.”

– Robert Hilburn, The Los Angeles Times

“Martha Davis, of the Motels, was still strong in voice and admirably delivered hits like ‘Only The Lonely’ and ‘Suddenly Last Summer.'”

– Hollywood Reporter (about recent Hollywood Bowl Concert)

Ruby Rose Fox opening

Ruby Rose Fox, a vocal powerhouse of soul driven, edgy rock ‘n’ roll (with a nod to newwave pop), whose voice threatens to knock down the walls of any room in which she performs is hard at work to make 2015 her strongest year of new releases and live performances. Ruby Rose Fox was the lone standout of Boston-based artists to make The Boston Globe’s list of “10 Bands and Solo Artists to Watch in 2015,” and winner of the 2014 Boston Music Award for Best Female Vocalist in addition to her nomination for Singer-Songwriter of the Year.

“arty, edgy rock ‘n’ roll that lets her be Lou Reed and Nico at the same time … [and seems] to come from another scene, another world.”
– Jed Gottlieb, Boston Herald

Dave says,

This Thursday let’s welcome back Gloucester’s own Bobby Davis aka Johnny Carwash for another groovy night of surf toons and other related guitar ruminations. Bobby’s the best! With his effervescent style he’ll have you on the floor writhing with abandon. Along with David “Doc” Vincent on the skins, the circle is complete. We’ll be re-creating all your memories that were playing on your 8-track while you were losing your virginity. Don’t miss it!

When the Cat’s Away

Anyone recognize this guy?  Circa 1987/1988.

For the record, while appreciating that amazing head of hair and thinking, “Just what would I call that awesomeness if I wanted to head to my local barber/hair dresser and get that done this very second?” he, himself, describes it like this

It’s more of a Power Mullet, than a mud flap…or perhaps the “Richard Marx” / “Simon LaBonn”

Tee Hee.  I laugh, but it is really quite impressive.  I was a junior in High School then.  My girlfriends and I might have stalked his locker if we went to school together.

Sax Gordon Tonight! Dave Sag’s Blues Party @ The Rhumb Line 8:30-11:30pm 3.26.2015

sax
Dave says,

So, this is the big one: The return of the one and only Mr. Gordon Beadle. The man with the golden Sax. This hypoxia-inducing master of the honky sax will have you gasping for breath as he literally sucks all the oxygen out of the room and recycles it wobbling directly into your pineal gland. Woe to those who miss this.
But, wait, there’s more: Mr. Edd Scheer, leader of the Love Dogs, will be bashing the drums and singing all those crazy old songs that you know and love. Furthermore, Mr. Mike DiBari will be plucking those glitar strings. this could be one of my all-time favorite units to work with. It always takes me two days to recover! We all sing, we all play and we’re gonna laugh our asses off, to boot.  You should come!

We Went Where?!

I stumbled upon this photo the other day from my freshman year of college.

I’m still laughing.  Before you ask, that’s me in the orange.  Laughing harder.

Keeping in mind that the photo was taken in the early fall of 1989 in Virginia…and that the staggering 9 pair of matching Keds were not mandatory, nor should they be considered a clue…anyone have a guess as to where this group of girls was headed?

I will give you one little hint.  It would soon after become impossible to attend the event that we attended ever again.  Another hint….while the first hint may sound tragic…it certainly is not.  In fact, most of us are a tad bit embarrassed that we went in the first place.

And…still laughing.   If you have a guess, please comment.  I’ll comment with the answer this evening.  I’m sure you’ll all be on the edge of your seats.

There’s a new band in town! The Fabulous Supersonics and they are making their debut tonight @ The Dog Bar 3.7.2015

u

We are called the “Fabulous Supersonics” and we are:

John Fatello – guitar and vocals. John was, most recently, the host of
the popular Open Mic night at the Franco-American Club in Beverly. He
has also backed up such blues luminaries as James Cotton and others in his career.
The band features veterans of local bands Quits, the Nor’easters and Points North. And the Diva, Westward Ho of the Diva Hos. We are covering tunes from Steely Dan to the Stones. Eric Clapton to Stevie Wonder. With a dash of Iggy Pop and Tom Petty.

https://www.facebook.com/events/1544228705855772/

The Dogbar is located at 65 Main Street in Gloucester. Rear entrance is
located on Rogers St.
