Pet of the Week- Trilon

11.13.2017 Pet of the Week-Trilon

Hi my name is Trilon! I am a bit over two years old. I am a long hair guy with a beautiful grey coat and green eyes. I have quite the affectionate personality and I love to have attention from my people. I will snuggle in close and give plenty of headbutts when I am comfortable. I was lucky enough to make my way to CAAA from the MA Feline Rescuer Transfer and I seem to really be enjoying indoor life. I am sure to be happy with a loving companion, tasty treats and a warm bed. I am considered a special needs adoption because I have FIV, which means I could have more health problems in the future because my immune system is compromised but I could also be as healthy as my fur friends. I should be kept indoors and visit with the vet on a regular schedule to make sure I stay healthy. If you’re looking for a mellow kitty ,someone over the crazy kitten phase stop by the shelter to meet me and see if I might be a good addition to your family.  To see all of the available dogs and cats at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the week-Lulu

10.30.2017 Pet of the Week-Lulu

Hello!  Beautiful Lulu here.  Pleased to meet you! I found myself at CAAA when my family had to move and could not keep me. I may be larger in size but don’t let that steer you away, we all know dieting is tricky and I am currently working on my shape with a low fat low calorie food. I can’t help it I am just an older mellow girl who likes to just nap and relax so if you are looking for a companion to share your days lounging around with pick me! I am considered a super senior at 11 years old and my super power is “Zen” because I am so relaxed. I really don’t mind being pet or brushed but I am not a huge fan of being picked up.

I previously lived in a home with another cat and didn’t mind sharing my space. If you’re interested in giving an older girl another shot at a loving forever home stop by and meet me. To see all of the available dogs and cats at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the Week- Shiloh

10.23.2017 Pet of the Week--Shiloh

Hi my name is Shiloh. The folks here are guessing I have some hound or cattle dog in my mix. I am a happy go lucky kind of guy always  have my tail wagging and pleased to see you. I am 3 years old and medium size so I would be perfect for car rides or outdoor adventures. I am over the young puppy phase and looking for a family to show me the ropes of home living. I have met a few other dogs and I seem to enjoy their company so I wouldn’t mind sharing my space.

Please stop by the shelter to meet me to see if I might be your match!  To see all of the available dogs and cats at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the week-Toby

10.9.2017 Pet of the Week--Toby

Toby here and ready to move on!  I am a transplant from Texas and lucky for me I arrived here ahead of Hurricane Harvey.

Not so lucky for me I had an old trauma to my left hip, most likely from an accident involving a car but no one can know for sure.  The wonderful folks here took great care of me and got me the femoral head ostecetomy surgery I needed to ensure I could lead a much more comfortable and active life in the future.  I have had my staples removed and am healing well.  I still have to take things a little easy so they won’t let me run and play like I want to yet but they keep telling me I can slowly start to increase my exercise and some day soon I will be able to run and play like I want to.

I am a handsome and lovable fellow.  I adore tennis balls, rope toys and am much more of a fan of keep away than fetch but I will trade my toys for a tasty treat.  Did I mention I adore piles of comforters to lay on. I get along well with most other dogs, big and small although I can’t really play much (the vet says I need to take it easy for a little while longer).  I did get a chance to swim a little at the pool at Camp Spindrift and swimming is great exercise for me and it will help to strengthen my muscles and help me heal faster.

I keep my kennel clean so house-training should be a piece of cake.  I am an adult rescue looking for a more adult kind of home, one with older kids maybe 10 years and up who can respect my desire to not share a tennis ball sometimes. If you are looking for a loyal companion than I am your man.

Please come on down, spend some time with me and I am sure you will fall in love just like most of the staff and volunteers have already.  To see all of the available cats and dogs at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org

Pet of The week – Toby

10.2.2017 Pet of the Week--Toby

Hello my name is Toby and I am a gorgeous older fella with a very mellow personality. I am what you would call an introvert.  It takes me a while to warm up to new people and environments so a quiet home would be best for me.  I don’t think I would like a home with lots of visitors and kids around but I really wouldn’t mind another cat or two as long as they accept me. I have lived with Nix who already got adopted from here but we were not super bonded however we co-existed just fine. I was a little more shy so it took me a little longer to adjust. I will need lots of time to feel secure in my new environment so my new family would need to be up for a challenge.

The love I give in return is worth the wait but it will not happen overnight.  My first reaction is to hiss and hide when I am scared.  If you feel I would be a great addition to your home please stop on by. As a member of the Super Senior club I get assigned a Super Power and mine is “loving”.

I am a very soft, gentle, big  guy that will fill your heart with love if you have the time and patience to let me settle in.  To see all of the available cats and dogs at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website:    capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the Week-Rose

9.25.2017 Pet of the Week--Rose

My brother Axel and I traveled all the way from Texas.  We braved hurricane Harvey with our loving foster family who kept us safe and made sure we could get here as soon as possible to find a loving forever home.

We adore each-other so are looking for a family willing to take two!  We are mixed small breed pups, maybe some poodle, chihuahua or terrier tossed in but lots and lots of adorable is the only breed we can guarantee!  We are affectionate and outgoing and the most frequent word used to describe us by the staff here, “cute” said with a huge smile.  We both love soft beds, toys, blankets to burrow under and treats.  We get along with other small dogs and are being room mates with Bianca, a scruffy little terrier rescue gal from Puerto Rico who is also looking for a home.

If you love small dogs, have the space and time to devote to us we promise to be loyal and loving to the end of our days.   To see Axel and all of the dogs and cats at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website  capeannanimalaid.org

Pet of the Week- Fred

9.4.2017 Pet of the Week--Fred

Hi there Super Senior Fred the Cat here! My Super Power is “Zen” because I have a calm manor about me. I take whatever comes my way and go with the flow! I am around 12 years young as I’d like to say. I was found abandoned outside the shelter one day and well I am so very thankful for second chances. The Folks here cleaned me up and helped me get vet checked now I am on my hunt for a loving home and someone share the rest of my days with. I am considered a “Special Needs” adoption because I may need dental work in the future. I don’t have much in my wish list but I do like sunny windows and a warm cozy bed.

If you would open up your home and heart to a Senior Kitty like me stop by the shelter to meet me to see if I am a good match.   To see Fred and all of the other available dogs and cats at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the Week- Lola

8.28.2017 Pet of the Week--Lola

Are you looking for a partner in adventure?  Someone  wiggly, fast to make you laugh and full of enthusiasm?  Lola at your service! I am a sweet and affectionate 1 year old. I love learning new things and I am a huge fan of getting love and attention from my human friends. I have been to some obedience classes and I know sit, lay down, and paw and I am working on more ! Sometimes when I get excited I don’t realize how big and strong I am so I am looking for a family that can handle a larger dog .

I like toys or all kinds, playing with other pooches and spending time outdoors. I have been known to chase squirrels or outdoor cats but hey that could be the hound in me. I was originally rescued in Puerto Rico and I have lived in a home with children and did well, I am also crate trained. I can be nervous around new men but if they are patient we can become good friends. I am eager to please and looking for a family. I am a very sweet girl ready and waiting for a second chance.

Pet of the Week-Gracie

8.21.2017 Pet of the Week--Gracie

Gracie here! I’m a bit of a chubby gal with an absolutely stunning face, as you can see. Some things I enjoy include being brushed and getting pet. I love sitting next to my people, preferably while looking out the window and watching the day go by. I’m not a huge fan of being picked up (which is probably easier on your back anyway!) but I can be very affectionate when I want to be. Basically, I like to choose the time and place for some attention. I’m considered a Super Senior and my Superpower is lounging, because I love to find comfy spots to relax in. If you think your lifestyle would be a good match for mine, come on over and meet me!  To see all of the available dogs and cats at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website:capeannanimalaid.org

Pet of the Week Hooper

Hi! My name is Hooper and I am what you call a friendly feral. Although I’ve lived outdoors for part of my life I’ve become very fond of humans and now am looking for my own to share their home with me. Because I’m so friendly the folks here don’t think I’ll have a hard time transitioning to the indoor life .I like warm cozy beds, snacks to share and a sunny spot to lounge in. I don’t mind a good scratching behind my ear from time to time. If your into helping out with second chances stop in and meet me and maybe I’ll be the lucky one ! To see all of the available cats and dogs at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the Week-Fancy

Hello my name is Fancy and I a sweet older girl with a loving personality. I enjoy the company of people and love to have my chin scratched. I was transferred in from another rescue that pulls from high kill shelters so I am fortunate to be here at Cape Ann Animal Aid and happy to meet all the new people here. I am a little cranky around the other cats so it might be best is if I were the only cat. If you are looking for a more mature cat to keep you company than I am the one for you. I am a bigger girl weighing in at close to 15 lbs so I could stand to lose a little weight but I am quite happy the way I am. Please stop by and visit and maybe we will be a perfect match. Pet of Week- Hayley

Talk about your adorable, mushy young adult! This girl knows how to work at the heart strings! She is a super affectionate and goofy gal. She loves hanging out with the office staff here and can often be caught curled up on her blankets and suckling on an edge of her comforter (never chews it just sucks on it). It really is one of the cutest things ever when she falls asleep with the blanket in her mouth like a toddler with their thumb! Hayly loves going for walks and enjoys the company of other dogs. She is very good about going potty outside and settles very well in her crate overnight or if you need to head out, as long as she has a good chew bone and a comforter to suckle on she is content to wait for your return. Hayly is happy to meet everyone and free with her kisses. She is a strong girl and still needs to learn not to give in to the urge to jump or pull but she is practicing self control and getting better every day. Hayly is considered special needs because she recently went through heartworm treatment so her new family needs to keep her exercise level on the low end for another couple of months and follow up with their veterinarian. Hayly is super sweet and if you like a big girl with a gentle soul and a comedic side this is the lady for you! Pet of the Week- Roxy

Stop right there! I gotta know right now…do you love me, will you love me forever? Ok so maybe Meatloaf lyrics aren’t always the best way to introduce a lovely young lady but it sure did get your attention! I am the only girl in a litter of three. My brothers Zafi and Grey are both looking for homes here as well and we are all super excited to be starting new life adventures. I am a quiet sort of feline, mellow and sweet. I spent time in a foster home where I lived with my siblings and other cats, 4 small dogs and children. We all got along with them well. So if you give me the time to settle in and feel secure then I will give you a lifetime of love and companionship! My name is Roxy, so don’t forget to seek me out when you hit the adoption floor! To see all of the available animals at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the Week- Felix

Do you enjoy travel and cruising around and are looking for someone who would enjoy car rides as much as you do? Well then here I am! I love going for rides, just sitting in the seat and watching the world go by, maybe I was born for an RV lifestyle? Felix here and considering myself a lucky guy for getting to travel from Georgia up here to Massachusetts to find a new family I can relish as my own! I am a very affectionate fellow and want to be part of your day. I get along great with the other pooches here and don’t mind having other small dog roommates here so wouldn’t mind sharing my new home with a canine sibling or two. I spent some time in foster before traveling here and my foster family had this to say. “Felix was sort of needy and whiny his first few nights in my home but once he figured out the schedule and what was expected of him he settled right in. Felix is very well crate trained, and walks great on the leash. He is not 100% house-trained but does well with supervision. He really loves attention but likes to explore too. I have never seen him react negatively to anything or anyone. I honestly think that Felix would be a great addition to any home that plans to treat him with patience and positive, consistent reinforcement. He is so very special and deserving of a posh life in his older years!” So what do you say, take a chance on me? Pet of the week- Larry

My name is Larry and I’m looking for a family to call my own. I’m what the people here call a “Super Senior” and my super power is lovability. I love catnip toys, lounging on sunny windowsills, and rumor has it I’m also a great mouser! I’m a very gentle soul and I can come off as a bit reserved initially, but once I get to know you my personality really shines. I love getting scratched behind my ears and will head butt you to let you know I want more. I’d love nothing more than to curl up next to you on the couch and take in all the love. I’m not always a fan of other cats and in my previous home the dogs would sometimes bully me, so my ideal home would be one where I can be your one and only. If you’re interested in meeting me, come on down! To see all of the available animals at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org

Pet of the Week- Nene

Hi… I know everyone could use a Buddy… lucky for you, that’s my aim in life! So, a little more about me, my name is Nene and I am about 3 years old (I lost my day planner during all my shuffling around, so I’m not exactly sure of my birthdate), I’ve had to find a new home since my previous owner lost their home and could no longer keep me. I walk nicely on the leash (and the veterinarian said I was a little plump so I could use a walking partner), I get along nicely with the other dogs and love to play with my toys.

I am a busy fellow with a stronger personality so would love a dog experienced home with children in their teens and older. I don’t take up too much room and, I don’t make too much noise, well I will do some alarm barking to let you know visitors have arrived. Make a boy’s dreams come true and take me home with you… I do have a luxating patella which makes me a special needs adoption. Luxating patella’s are pretty common in small breeds. As long as you watch my weight (I’ve already lost 3 pounds!!) and do not enroll me any Olympics, we should be good. The shelter of course always recommends you monitor the condition with your own veterinarian. To see all of the available animals at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org

Pet of the Week- Misty

Beautiful Misty here! I am what the folks here call a Super Senior and my super power is “Instant Purr” because all you have to do is look at me and I purr! I am a sweet, yet shy lady who is looking for a home where I can spend the rest of my days.

I was brought in by a rescue group after I was surrendered to them by my owner. Luckily for me I was able to come here so I could have a second chance! It has taken me a little extra time to settle into the shelter, so I am looking for a family who is able to work with me to settle into their home. I am a true sweetheart after I get comfortable with you and the folks here tell me I would make a great companion for someone with a quieter home. Do you think we could be a match? To see all of the available animals at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website:capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the week – Gemma

Gema has been staying in foster and her foster mom has this to say. “She has been a perfect guest except for an occasional chase of the chickens, too much fun to resist. She doesn’t seem to want to harm them just hard to pass up. At my home she is sharing with several other dogs and has had no issues with food, toys or beds. She is perfectly housebroken and goes outside when needed. Gema has been sleeping at night on a dog bed and is quiet all night. She is not interested in playing with the other dogs but also isn’t interested in causing any trouble, she tries to avoid conflict if possible. She is a climber and still has the urge to escape if something startles her, so, not a pooch who can be left out in the yard alone. She really wants company and is happiest with people around.

I would say she would make a perfect pet for someone who is home or works from home or she could even go to work with someone. Gema is a special needs adoption because she had a heartworm infection that was treated but will need follow up with a veterinarian and when she first arrived in our care here at the shelter she had a lot of anxiety about being crated or left alone. With lots of time, patience and the help of some anxiety medication she has learned to settle in a variety of environments and relax enough to start to enjoy life and making new friends. Please come in and visit Gema she is very special. For more information on all of the available cats and dogs at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org.

Pet of the Week- Ruby

3.20.2017 Pet of the Week-- Ruby

Some dogs are just classics, from the moment you look at them you think “that’s one cool dog”.  That’s Ruby. She’s a work in progress if you will. A little rusty in spots but nothing a little TLC won’t fix. This girl is super smart! She knows sit, stay, leave it, and down. She is also crate trained. She’s got a super nose and would do GREAT with “nosework” if that’s your cup of coffee. We did some here with her and she loved it. A true friend Ruby’s favorite place is beside a person, someone who gives her scratches behind the ears or a good rub to her head.

You may be asking yourself what is this rust you mentioned? Ruby LOVES to chase cars and needs serious training on the leash to learn not to chase them (as this can be a very dangerous behavior). Ruby used to try and chase them while she was IN the car as well. She would very intently bark at them, jump to the front and back, side to side of the car. We have worked very hard with Ruby on this and she can now go for car rides and will settle with being tethered and a KONG, or with a barrier raising her head when the car slows with perhaps the occasional bark. Ruby needs a home with adults and teens that are experienced with dogs and are committed to helping her over this one last hurdle.

So if you’re looking for that perfect pal, that oversized lap-dog, one you will enjoy training and working with. A smart pooch who enjoys spending time exercising outdoors, well then stop by and visit Ruby!  To find out more about Ruby and the other available animals at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter please go to our website: capeannanimalaid.org.
