  9. That little fella was in my yard on Fuller St. for awhile. He’said a Bob white with a very distinctive “Bob white!” call. I think he’s lost his gang – they usually hang out in a covey. I hope he finds his way home!

  13. What a wonderful and rare encounter Donna! The beautiful and dramatically declining Northern Bobwhite is becoming increasingly hard to find in Massachusetts. When I was a child we heard their soft melodious cries every evening and early morning, coming from the scrubby lot on the cliff adjacent to my grandparent’s home on Cape Cod. Here are several links from the Mass Audubon website. The first shows how drastically has been their decline and the second gives an account of their behavior in Massachusetts.
