Dogtown Common, 1923

Just beyond Dogtown Road is a pound (contained area for animals) and the remains of a cellar. It appears that the cow has escaped the pound.

Along its trails and wooded paths
I view with amazement at Dog Town’s reflections
Of how all Mother Natures leaves amass
Its various and beautiful colors blended to perfection
    God’s great creatures dashing around
Making ready for a long winters sleep
Birds up and flying southward bound
Those left behind building nests to keep
You can feel the history of Dog Town in the air
As you view each cellar and hear nature’s sounds
We must take heed to treat it with great care
Of all God’s wonderful creature’s abound
So as the first snow begins to fall
Take a last look at Dog Towns open space
Appreciate the winters cleansing in whiteness all
That God has given us to embrace

  3. Fred, Great memories here as blue-berries, tea-berries, – used to escape into Dog Town woods when going to Beeman school during lunch hours…1966-1968. There was a great blue berry by a natural spring there too could drink right out of the water…Place as filled in since those days at least from what I remember during my trips to friends house who also lived in the area.

    Dave & Kim 🙂 🙂

  4. Lots of us growing up on Myrtle Sq. went blueberry picking in Dogtown. We would pack a picnic lunch and spend the day there. Often had 8 -10 neighbors with us. Did Woody live with Mrs. Gracie??? Grandchildren Paul and Marcia lived with her.
