  • Thanks and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you!!

  • Little long here! Green paddies means green – things are springing up! My guess: Well think I am going to offer up a guess on your arrival of spring…Based on what I see this way, native traditions, walking in mountains today saw a toad making his way to side of hill may be a better sign the furry one (Shadow)? A feeling, that the end of March, beginning of April, spring should start the change of weather your way. And Cherry festivals this way-I was assigned down at Jinhae from December 2003 to June 2005 working with the Navy Master at Arms (MA’s) dispatch center on installation and the below is exactly as described
Stripes 13 March 2014 and youtube below (history)
    Chinhae Cherry Blossom Festival 2013

“This way down south we have the Jinhae cherry blossom festival 1-10 April. When it’s 220,000 cherry trees bloom, the whole city is covered in a different white than snow. While every corner of the city is considered a cherry blossom hot spot, the greatest attractions are Anmin road, the Republic of Korea Naval Headquarters, and Jehwangsan Park. Anmin road, 5.6 Kilometers in distance, is a long stretch of cherry trees and makes a perfect promenade since few cars are usually on the road. The headquarters of the naval base is especially popular for it’s stately old cherry trees and is opened to the public only during the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival (Naval port Festival). During the festival, a life-sized Geobukseon, or turtle ship, is on display. The naval base is quite large, so shuttle buses provide a 10 to 15 minute tour of the base. A walking tour takes 20 minutes and will take you only to limited areas of the base. Meanwhile, Jehwangsan Park offers a splendid view of both the cherry blossoms and the sea adjacent to it. A walk up the 365 stairs, known as lLnyeon Gyedan, (one year stairway), is a great way to enjoy the cherry blossoms and forsythias that flank the stairway.” My wife and I used to walk to this park everyday about 15 minutes from house then and had a zoo on top and museum – and what a sight at night overlooking the entire city and harbor on other side of mountain which we use to walk to also about 25 minutes from house and when I get up to speed more with the features of Googel plus will post some pictures.. Dave 
