The Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church is pleased to announce the eighth in a monthly series called Music & Meditation in the Meetinghouse (MMM) that offers Cape Ann residents and visitors a unique combination of beautiful music and relaxing meditation. It is held in the candle-lit sanctuary of the historic 1806 Meetinghouse, Gloucester’s oldest standing church.
The January event features meditation leader Laurie Ure and balladeer Gerry Ryan. There will be a collation with light refreshments afterwards in the church’s Entrance House, giving participants the opportunity to meet the leaders and each other in a convivial atmosphere. The Sanctuary is accessible for persons with disabilities via the side entrance at 10 Church Street. This is a non-religious event, a free-will offering is requested, and everyone is welcome.
Laurie Ure, LICSW, is a Certified Bioenergetic Therapist, with a private practice in Gloucester. Bioenergetic Therapy combines traditional psychotherapy with a body-oriented approach. Laurie leads Bioenergetic workshops and trains Bioenergetic therapists internationally. She utilizes a variety of types of meditation in her practice and her life, and will lead the group in different types of meditation in the program.

Gerry Ryan is a singer, singer/songwriter on the North Shore. He has performed on the coffeehouse stages throughout New England in the trio, Ryan, Ortolani & Fleming. Ryan has produced two CD’s of original music, ‘Today in Yesteryear’ and ‘Halfway Home’ that have been featured on folk and acoustic radio programs throughout the country. He has featured at a wide variety of acoustic music venues throughout New England such as the Me & Thee Coffeehouse in Marblehead, the Rose Garden Coffeehouse in Mansfield, MA, the Linden Tree Coffee House in Wakefield and the Amazing Things Coffee House in Framingham.
