Hi Jacqueline, Very difficult to make an educated guess without knowing the dimensions of the track but based on the way the middle toes splay inward rather than more outward, could be a coyote.

I was wondering about the trailing mark next to the tracks? I’ve never seen a dog /coyote leave such a mark.

Something from the “Muskrat or Opossums” sort of round pad foot – tend to drag print- and 4 toenails or claw. or cat family?.? 🙂

I would also say a dog, a racoon’s tracks are like a person’s hands, but I don’t believe they would be in this pattern.

A fairly big dog. these tracks seem too big for a coywolf.

I would not be surprised if those are Fisher tracks. Have seen one in broad daylight this winter in the marsh.

I was wondering about that because of that “draggy” mark and pattern. They were along the marsh and edge of dunes.

Could be a Coywolf species ! In the Eastern parts of the USA are making a bigger presents and are large than a coyote but not as big as a grey or red wolf. And are getting use to the living with mankind and cities.

I think it looks like the print of a fisher cat-the ones on the wildlife ID card are splayed out like the ones in the snow….

The red fox who frequents my neighborhood (Rockport South End) leaves a trail between foot imprints as if he drags his feet, much like the look of your tracks here. This is unlike the big Coyotes whose footprints leave tracks that are distinct and separate ie no trail. I have no experience with the Fishers but I think they have 5 forward toes that imprint. Can’t quite tell in your pics how many toe prints there are.
