Thanks for this. Here’s a direct link to the map search page at FEMA. If you want to search for your address, just enter it in the search field at the top of the page under where it says ‘Enter an address or place:’ You can also just type the name of the town and and state if you wish. It will zoom to your address or town depending on what you entered.
If you provide your exact address, it will zoom to the address and provide a link to the correct FIRM Panel that includes your address.
If you enter the town, it will show a grid that you can click on to find you address using a birds eye view.
The Gloucester City offices on Dale street also have a set of the current maps you can look at. What did FEMA raise the flood elevation to that so many more houses are in the we flood zone?
Bottom line: the insurance companies don’t want to pay for damages. So every time there’s a bad storm and they have to pay damages, they look for ways to raise rates. Changing the “flood” elevations and eliminating the FEMA insurance means more people pay higher premiums and the insurance companies make more money. Don’t get me started.
