This was a good post. I sent it forward to a friend who owns a vacation property in Salvo, North Carolina, thinking rules will apply across the US. She has experienced flood loss and experienced the process of insurance and recovery and the impact of FEMA.

At the bottom of the list of maps are 2 index maps (25009IND1B & 25009IND2B). These will allow you to locate the proper map for your location.

Thanks. I’ve had the worst time getting the floodsmart.gov site to behave consistently. Sometimes the maps are available, sometimes not. And the FEMA site is just indecipherable. Oh well, we make do.
