Thank you Susan–so many favorite spots in Gloucester for sunrises–lying in bed before dawn, I can see from my bedroom window what the colors of dawn will bring and decide from there where to go film.

Actually, the Sherman cottage located at Good Harbor beach in East Gloucester, MA. was never known as “birdcage” Originally, the “cottage” was known locally as the “Spider House”, with the wrap around open porches. I learned this bit of Gloucester history from my grandmother, who lived most of her life in Gloucester, and her family had resided in Gloucester since the 1860s.

I have heard of the recently passed Lucette White’s house as Judge Sherman’s house, the birdcage house after the porches were built, and the China house.
