It’s difficult to express in words what makes me like this photo more than others. Maybe it’s the horizon line just under the walkway and it’s presence extending from the dark bottom of the lighthouse. And also the receding layers of rock, water, distant hills, and sky. I know this probably sounds like a crock, but for me it’s more engaging than a pretty sunset over the ocean (and don’t get me wrong, they can be stunning). Just being honest.
Agree with Fred Bodin…Would like to be sitting right on that forefront rock drinking in the sunset. Maybe “we” should try to paint a painting of this wonderful shot, then have GMG organize a “send me a pic of your painting” contest about which ones excel in our minds— realistic or impressionistic or—??? Photography is art also after all.
