Poll- Discover Gloucester Asks For GMG’s Help Choosing a "Rookie of the Year!”

Hey, Joey-

Discover Gloucester could use your reader’s help choosing a “Rookie of the Year!

We’re recognizing three new-to-the-scene local tourism-minded people with special Awards at the Discover Gloucester Holiday & Awards Party on December 5, Noon at Jalapenos. We hope you’re attending!

Two of the Award recipients were no-brainers for us to decide upon, just like last year when we selected you.

We found it hard to choose a third winner, though, as the field is extensive and stellar. There’s so many fantastic new businesses that came on board in 2012 that are helping to make our destination more diverse and interesting.

This is where your readers and an infamous GMG Poll come into play!

Would you help us out by putting a Poll up on GMG that includes all our nominees for Discover Gloucester Rookie of the Year Award?

Good Morning Gloucester faithful: Would you participate in the Poll, and also let us know if we forgot a new business that opened in 2012?

Nominees for the Rookie of the Year 2012 are, in no particular order:

The Cave, Laura Cramer, Owner; http://www.thecavegloucester.com

Big Mike’s Bikes, Kathleen & Mike Toomey, Owners;http://www.bigmikesbikes.org/

RSVP now to info@SeaportGloucester.org to attend the December 5th Discover Gloucester Holiday & Awards Party at Jalapenos, 86 Main Street, Gloucester.

Noon-2PM; $22 per person. Be there for the fabulous Mexican Buffet and to see who wins the “Good On Ya!” Award; the “Golden Sou’Wester Rookie of the Year” Award; and the Discover Gloucester Heritage Award!

Thanks, Joey!

  • That’s a tough one. I’ve only been to four of the stores and tough to choose between those four. Likely if I got out more it would be nine tough decisions. Wait, Rubber Duck is in the next lab bay jumping from computer to computer. I gotta stop her from rigging the vote, something about duck liver pâte at The Cave. It’s not a relative Rubber Duck, your species would not be that tasty!

  • As you all already know we love The Cave. Read this to understand why: https://goodmorninggloucester.wordpress.com/2012/11/24/shop-party-locally-whats-in-it-for-you/

  • Being a life long resident of Gloucester and a local business owner I have seen businesses come and go. I am happy to see a site such as this one support and recognize local achievements. The Rookie of the Year is a great concept. Although I am familiar with only a handful of the businesses nominated for this honorable award, there are a couple of stand outs in my opinion. First there is Sweet Shots and Secret Spots. This new business is one that I have always thought of doing myself but never had the know how or drive to follow up on. I am happy that Violet and Corey have grabbed the bull by the horns and provided such a great service for the tourists and the locals alike. If you are not aware of what they do, click the link and see for yourself. Thanks Sweet Shots !
Next there is Mile Marker One @ The Cape Ann Marina. As a newcomer to the Restaurant
/nightlife and music scene It is one of my favorite indoor/outdoor venues to visit. Having had the pleasure of entertaining as a DJ for Charity Events and Weddings or just a simple Reggae Night out this past Summer it ranks as one of my favorite on the water venues to play. Mile Marker One has upped the game on providing a well run establishment with it’s team of young professionals who understand the need to keep things fresh and cutting edge without losing the feel of the quaintness of the local Waterfront. In closing these are my personal views I wished to share with all who may not have had the pleasure of enjoying. Good luck to all !
    See you @ Jalapenos !

  • How do I vote? I’d like to vote for Big Mikes Bikes!
