Thanks for the coverage Donna, and also for stopping in. We had a good day in the gallery today, and tomorrow will be even better. It’s not easy for Fred to drag himself out of bed in the pitch dark and then drive to work at sunrise. But we opened at 7 am with coffee and raspberry ring Danish. Danish left over served tomorrow, and stuffed clams tomorrow at 6 pm.

Thanks for supporting Sugar Mags and the other merchants, Donna. I was surprised when Missy said she only had 2 customers come in between 5:30am and 7am and only a couple of people got the $3 Black Friday breakfast sandwich/coffee special. They were really busy for lunch, so that made up for the extra staff costs of opening at 5:30am, but she’s not likely to do it next year.

Must admit that I didn’t get downtown on Black Friday as I partook of too much Thanksgiving fun and was a bit too hungover to go shopping, so I’m part of the problem. 🙂

A friend went to Sugar Mags that morning. I asked him if he got the $3 deal but he said he didn’t know it was offered.

I was open at 7 am Friday, and did no $ business until after 10 am. 11/23/12 turned out to be a very good sales day. But the early morning – not so much (like 0). But in order to support the other merchants who can entice buyers with 25% or better discounts, which I cannot do, I was open. We all need to help each other.

My guess is that the merchants that used their social media channels and offered decent discounts did good business. I think your attitude is great Fred about supporting the other businesses. Much like the block parties my feeling is that even if someone doesn’t buy something right then and there, the awareness that there is a vibrant happening downtown with everyone pulling in the same direction will pay huge dividends toward customers feeling that there is reason to head downtown for their shopping.

So right Joey: There were people shopping, hopefully each year more and more people come out. Fred is terrific by supporting the team on Main Street. We have to keep this great feeling going and I applaud them all.

Thanks, Donna. No clams for you (deathly allergic), but plenty of other goodies to eat and drink!
