  1. Very, very impressive images Kathy! They give a sense of the scale of the fishing schooner, an ocean going vessel capable of surviving the North Atlantic, and bringing home a large payload of fish. To me, they look so much larger out of the water.

  2. love going over there.. great pictures

Nice series, Kathy. I couldn’t figure out how to get all three historic schooners in a good shot. And there …you took it from ONBOARD the Adventure. Nice going.

  4. Great pictures, Kathy..~..Thank You for sharing !

In the 60′s both of these schooners were owned by the Boston Pilots whose office was on Long Wharf adjacent to where I lived. They alternated on duty – one week on station and one week in port, returning to Long Wharf early Tuesday mornings just long enought to switch crews. One or the other was often seen off Nahant, jogging under trysail. Highlander Sea was named Pilot at that time.

Great pic’s Kathy, and so nice to meet you yesterday in front of our beautiful garden…..

  7. Thanks everyone. At the Railways they are referred to as the “sisters”. Just spectacular to experience up close.
