Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter-Ceremony

This morning I attended the ceremony for the new Cape Ann Animal Aid/Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter.  It was a beautiful morning, great turn out, and showed the great dedication from so many in our community.

Cindy Dunn, Sunniva Buck, Mayor Carolyn Kirk, Representative Ann Margaret Ferrante, Don Fryklund, and Camilla Rich all shared what this shelter meant to them personally and all the hard work involved.

And after the ribbon was cut, we were able to see the new digs for all the very lucky cats and dogs. Such a spacious, bright, and light filled facility with enough room to save many furry lives!

The animals will be placed in their new home next week. I think they will be very pleased and thankful.

  3. Thank you for covering this event. Although I have been involved with this project for almost 4 years now, I greatly appreciated the history of the new Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter project that was shared during the shelter opening ceremony. It was obvious from these remarks that the building of this shelter was a labor of love, designed and constructed with generous donations of time, expertise, materials, labor and money by many people in the Gloucester and greater North Shore communities. Equally as important is that this new shelter will allow Cape Ann Animal Aid, a Gloucester institution in all respects, to help even more people and animals in our community.
I hope that people will come from far and wide to tour the new shelter, meet the amazing staff and visit with the animals available for adoption.
