Ann writes-
Hi Joey. Yesterday I was wandering through a local (Liberty, MO) flea market and from across the room a dusty old postcard caught my eye. I could hardly believe it when I picked it up and read the caption, "Surf at Eastern Point, Gloucester, Mass."! I especially love the sentiment written on the back: "The ocean is wonderful. I never tire of looking at it." I couldn’t agree more.
Happy New Year to you and all GMGers! I look forward to more great coverage of all things Gloucester in 2012!
Nice find!

Could that be from before the breakwater?

Thank you for sharing Ann! I love the old postcards. My father-in-law came across a long- forgotten stash of postcards from East Gloucester, found in an older relatives keepsake drawer–in Cincinnati, Ohio! He passed them along and I do treasure them. Happy New Year to you!

Definitely not where Dog Bar Breakwater is now, as it was completed in December 1905. I would guess somewhere along the Back Shore at low tide.

Thank you for all of your comments. The postcard was published by Detroit Photographic Co, as indicated by tiny print on the top right of the picture. While researching the card, I found a little more information. See link if interested. Thanks again.

Although it does look like the end of Bearskin Neck in Rockport also!
