  1. When I went to Winchester Fishing Co. for bait I would buy a couple of mackerel to lure strippers to my hook. Every time I went I would get wonderful advice from the guys behind the counter. They told me where to fish and how to use the bait. I did exactly what they said I should do as a fisherman without a boat. Just place the bait in the suds they said. Suds? “You know, when the waves churn up the water right near the beach.”

All the other guys were launching huge plugs (no bait!) as far out as they could throw them. I did what they told me to do and caught a couple of nearly legal strippers only a few feet from my feet. I had eaten stripper meat before and as far as ocean fish goes, I would put strippers way down the list for taste right next to cod. In fact, the best tasting fish for my palette is a “Tinker” mackerel and I was feeding that to my less that tasty strippers.

  2. I have been trying to buy some mackerel and Connolly’s as well as Intershell don’t have any. Does anyone know where they might be available?
