Snoop Maddie Mad at Dogtown Book Store

Snoop Mad always loves to check out the ducks in the window at Dogtown Book Store.  That book to her left is owner Bob Ritchie’s Daughter’s copy of Make Way For Ducklings.

Tucked in the back of the store is a small reading area with vintage childrens books.

Rare bird sighting on Andrews Point this morning

I saw this rare bird sighting this morning which I had not seen but once before on a Saturday one year ago. This flock invades the neighborhood in extremely tight formation within a large yellow transport. Very colorful plumage they quickly disgorge after landing and disappear along the rocky shore. I spotted them in what I can only describe as a trilegged mating ritual while calls of Alcid!, Puffin! Razorback!, Dovekie! were heard.

A tricky bunch I was able to capture three leaders as they were ready to depart. They tried to drag me onto the bus but I was able to escape. Rumor has it they might be back this afternoon and I will try to get a shot of the actual mating ritual down on the rocks.

OH NO! We Baby Boomers are becoming our parents!

Some of the artists of the 60’s are revising their hits, with new lyrics to accommodate aging baby boomer’s who can remember doing the “Limbo” as if it were yesterday .

They include:
Bobby Darin —
Splish, Splash, I Was Havin’ A Flash

Herman’s Hermits —
Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got A Lovely Walker

Ringo Starr —
I Get By With A Little Help From Depends

The Bee Gees — –
How Can You Mend A Broken Hip?

Roberta Flack— The First Time Ever I Forgot Your Face

Johnny Nash — I Can’t See Clearly Now.

Paul Simon— Fifty Ways To Lose Your Liver

The Commodores — Once, Twice, Three Times To The Bathroom

Procol Harem— A Whiter Shade Of Hair

Leo Sayer — You Make Me Feel Like Napping

The Temptations — Papa’s Got A Kidney Stone

Denture Queen
“You haven’t seen my teeth have you?
Tony Orlando —
Knock 3 Times On The Ceiling If You Hear Me Fall

Helen Reddy — I Am Woman, Hear Me Snore

Leslie Gore—
It’s My Procedure, And I’ll Cry If I Want To

And Last but NOT least….
Willie Nelson —
On the Commode Again

Thanks, Joanne, for forwarding this. 🙂

Sushi At Lat 43 Served Lunch or Dinner

There were a couple different things I didn’t realize about the Sushi at Lat 43.  One that you could get it for lunch OR dinner, and Two that you could get it at the bar in the Tavern section.   Every once in a while I crave sushi for lunch, now I know just where to get it.  Brian Eastman the manager tells me you could even call in for it and have it ready when you get there.  Sweet!

Docksiders’ Aloha show last push for Hawaii trip – Manny Simoes Photos

The student musicians in the Docksiders, Gloucester High School’s stage band, made their last big fund-raising push for their trip to Hawaii.

The trip to Hawaii, April 16 to 23, is not the first trip the group has taken. In the nine years the band has been together, it is given concerts throughout the Cape Ann area, and tries to take a trip every two years. The Docksiders have traveled as far as California to play at Disney Land and to Florida, where the group twice played at Walt Disney World.

It was the Docksiders’ trip to Walt Disney World two years ago that led to this excursion for the band. See Times article here.

David Cox At Main Street Art and Antiques Headquarters

When David isn’t out covering Gloucester Sports or events for GMG he is busy at his shop Main Street Art and Antiques in the heart of beautiful Downtown Gloucester. When I snapped this photo I wasn’t sure if he was making a deal for a priceless piece of furniture or talking up one of his many lady callers.  The women just love him don’t you know.
