This is the PRIME reason I rarely shop in Gloucester ~ since I returned here to my home town ~ Politically, they are in many ways still back in the 50’s ~ I now try to shop elsewhere & even volunteer at another local library because the parking tickets I got for miniscule infractions ~ Beautiful geographically & making progress but Gloucester downtown is NOT one of my favorite places ~ nuff said ~ Thanks for GMG ~ Your GMG~ It is greats ~ Hugs and namaste, C

Infractions are infractions. If the sign says no parking and the meter isn’t fed then it’s not the meter maid’s fault. I don’t blame them and I see why there needs to be meters or else employees at all the stores would take all the parking and there wouldn’t be a steady rotation of open parking spots. Parking isn’t really a big issue as long as you are willing to walk a block or so. Rogers and Middle streets usually have parking and its less of a walk than most people walk when parked at a mall.

Come on – nothing in Gloucester is that far from anything else in Gloucester. Cheap guy that I can be I’ll often park at the unmetered spots on Main down near Gorton’s. Plus the meters here are cheap compared to most other places.

Parking is not a major issue in Gloucester! You can always park if you are willing to walk a block or two. Remember, Gloucester was a place before the invention of the automobile and that is one reason why Main St. is charming. Move to the outskirts of Phoenix or Atlanta if you want live in an auto centric wasteland.
