Sydney at West End Sweets

My grad-daughter has a severe milk allergy which is  not the same as lactose intolerance, and since so many foods are made with milk and milk products these days that we have to pay attention to what’s in just about everything she  eats.   I wanted her to have a great time at the Fiesta, without the worry.

I ran into Steve Maniaci co-owner of WEST END SWEETS and he guaranteed that she could have a sweet treat at West End Sweets and no worry.  He called ahead to the store and made sure that they used a sterile scoop when they made her a raspberry treat with gummy bears.  She loved it, and thank you Steve for making her day.

Parents with children and want to give their kids a treat visit West End Sweets, kids without milk allergies can enjoy the best ice cream in town, but if  they do have milk allergies,  Steve and his staff  will bend over backwards to insure the safety of your child.

They also carry other sweets, I felt like a kid again.

Thanks again Steve.

Block Party Pics!

The block party was a blast had by all! We had three boys and found plenty of fun for both the wee one and the teens at Toodeloos, West End Sweets, the big inflated movie screen from Cape Ann Community Cinema, and just walking around. Afterward, sitting on the boulevard under the moon listening to the waves was a perfect end to a lovely day!

ps: Anyone catch the homie windsock floating over Citizen’s Bank?

Hoola Hoopla a Huge Success!

What fun last night! The Hoola Hoopla was a huge success! I never imagined that so many kids (and adults) would want to try their hand at hooping! We had tiny tots trying to spin their hoops, and of course the bigger kids who love to outdo their friends.

Jennifer Goulart Amero from Metamorphosis Fitness brought hoops from her studio on Main St. She hooped all night and taught the kids some tricks and moves.

A wonderful woman (I ‘ve forgotten her name) who teaches at Brookwood, brought handmade hoops to share.

It truly was a community effort. And again I’d like to thank the following people for their help and support:

Rich at Iron Rail Gymnastics Academy

Toni at Tara Montessori

Jen at Metamorphosis Fitness

Carmine at Friendly’s Restaurant

Jerry at West End Sweets

The Brookwood teacher

Kylie (my granddaughter)

Joey and the GMG Gang

and all the kids and adults who made last night so much fun!

Snoop Maddie Mad Aboard The Schooner Adventure

Yesterday was one of those days that there was so much stuff to do you couldn’t possibly fit it all in.  Talk about lucky.  If you were in Gloucester yesterday you had a pick of about ten free awesome events to attend. Among them- The Schooner Adventure open house, The Judith Sargent Murray House, West End Sweets opened, The Charlie Lowe Exhibit at The Cape Ann Historical Museum.

How lucky are we?  What town north of Boston have so much going on?  Count your blessings.

West End Sweets Signage

Last week I brought you the info that there was this Ice Cream/Candy Store/Espresso Shop going in the West End where Mike’s Pastry used to be located.  Here is the signage with the offerings.  I’m still trying to track down the people who will be running the joint for in interview.  If anyone has any leads send me a comment.
