Family Ties Golf Event

Family Ties put on their 2nd Annual Golf Tournament at Ferncroft Country Club.  It was a beautiful day on the course. This event was made possible due to our great sponsors.  A big thank you to Dunkin Donuts, TRU services, Prattys CAV, Citizens Bank, Life Solutions Group, Mass Mutual, and Woburn Toyota.

Family Ties is a non profit created to benefit the local families of Cape Ann that have been affected by cancer.  We use the proceeds of our efforts to aid the families financial and emotionally through the tough times that cancer brings to their lives.

We would also like to thank our special guest Mike Watson; long drive champion who donated his drives on hole #4, a 360 yard par 4 where he reached the green consistently throughout the day.

Thank you to Thom Falzarano for donating his time to take all of the amazing pictures of the event.

The tournament ended with a sudden death card off between last year’s champs and Drew Dominick’s team (Drew Dominick, Nate Levie, JD Aspesi, Dean Babine).  In the end Mike Pratt, Anthony Ellis, Tony Grillo, and Billy Suppa took first place as repeat champions.

Also congratulations to Jason Balzarini for longest drive and Joe Nguyen for closest to the pin honors.

Access for everyone at the Gloucester Unitarian Universalist Church as todays ribbon cutting ceremony unveils 2 new platform-lifts.  The installations of the platform-lifts makes access to all 3 levels possible.   The construction effort included: Installation of an outdoor ramp, 2 platform-lift installations, widening doorways & hallways and  bathroom relocation. The funding making all of this possible came from private donors and a grant from the City of Gloucester’s Community Preservation Committee.  The new Chairman, Dick Prouty  announced that the Gloucester UU Church will be looking for ways to reduce the carbon footprint of the church.
