Snoop Maddie Mad Is 250th Percentile For Loving Soccer

Running joke in our house is that our kids are 250th percentile at this or that.  A joke making fun of obnoxious parents that claim their kids are this percentile or that percentile at some skill set.  You’re only supposed to be able to go up to 100% but I like to say back to those folks when they say their kid is 85th percentile at something that my kid is 250th percentile and stare back at the quizzical looks on their faces.

Snoop Mad is 250th percentile at loving soccer.  And that’s a higher percentile than your kid.  Deal with it.

The whole paying attention during practice part maybe negative 250th percentile.  Like when she was tending the net as the goalie and giving me the thumbs up on the sidelines when another six year old drilled a shot right past her for a goal.  Oopsies.

and would you look at those rags we’ve got her in?  She looks like a homeless soccer kid. Her parents get a negative 300th percentile for rolling their kid out in that get-up. Need to go to the sporting goods store stat and pick up some umbro soccer shorts.

The Bean and Snoop Maddie Mad Give The Little Mermaid Jr At O’Maley A Bazillion Thumbs Up

We just caught the dress rehearsal and I’ll let the Bean and Snoop Maddie Mad’s review speak for itself-

Don’t be the neglectful parent that deprives your child the opportunity to see this performance!

The O’Maley Innovation Middle School’s Performing Arts Department cordially invites members of the Cape Ann Community to attend our upcoming production of Disney’s Little Mermaid Junior.

Performance dates and times are as follows and tickets can be purchased at the door.

Since September, our cast and crew of almost one hundred 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students have been rehearsing twice every week after school.  You will be inspired by the talent and exuberance radiating from these young performers singing, dancing, and acting out this popular and heartwarming story.   Performing Arts classes during O’Maley’s school day focus on developing students’ 21st Century Skills and Common Core mastery through an interdisciplinary, project-based curriculum that utilizes the mediums of Theater, Music and Dance. This production is an excellent showcase of our department’s extra-curricular offerings, which focus on developing standards in the disciplines of Music (Chorus), Dance, and Theatre within a performance setting.

See you at the show!

Get a fresh start on Saturday after the world ends tomorrow

We’ve been hearing so much about tomorrow’s end of the world that we figured today is a good time to consider a fresh start–after the world ends tomorrow.  Funny, the Mayan’s don’t think the world will end tomorrow.  But that hasn’t stopped crazies around the world from fearing 12/21/12.  According to this article, the Mayans will “mark the new calendar with prayer and traditional ceremonies.”

So perhaps we should too.  After all, it is the winter solstice, a time when people of all traditions look to the return of the light — both physically (days will start getting longer on Saturday) and spiritually.  A good time to open Pandora’s box back up and grab the hope that still lies at the bottom.

Here’s a hopeful view of the world as sung by the great Louis Armstrong.

You wouldn’t think of this song as controversial, would you?  But it was when it was released in 1967, because of it’s subtle, anti-racist tone, mostly due to this stanza:
The colors of the rainbow
so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces
of people going by

ABC Records refused to promote it, so it sold fewer than 1000 copies in the U.S., while becoming a huge #1 hit in the U.K.  Of course, it’s a standard now and was performed beautifully by Gloucester’s youngest rock star, Snoop Maddie Mad this past June:

So much for the genius of record labels.

No major label artists in town this weekend, but who cares?  Check out Gloucester’s major talent (see complete live music schedule here) and get ready to party like it’s the end of the world!

Madeline Wraps and Addresses The Bean’s Christmas Present

Truth be told Snoop Maddie Mad was more excited about driving downtown and picking out presents for her sister at Toodeloos than she has been about picking out stuff for herself. All ride down to Gloucester she was fretting and nervous because she wanted to be sure that she got something that her sister would like. Then when we got home it was straight up to her room so she could wrap the presents herself.
She’s a good one that Snoop Maddie Mad.
