For Peggy at Pop Gallery

snowy owl

While walking this morning at Stage Fort Park with Elynn Kroger, we encountered this beautiful snowy owl.  A little later, I ran into Peggy Russell from Pop Gallery, who also had seen him, but hadn’t been able to get a shot of him.  This is for you Peggy.  Merry Christmas.  What a special treat on Christmas morning.

Of course it never fails that I encounter something magical when I carry my chumpy little pocket camera.  I wish I’d brought the nice one Paul Frontiero gave me, as I had originally intended.  Lesson.  Never second-guess your first impulse.

A Deliberate Act of Kindness

Peggy Russell, owner of the POP Gallery across the street, delivered this homemade soup to me, knowing that I wasn't feeling so great. All natural, and full of delicious vegetables, as you can see. After heating, I ate it all. Thanks Peg, it's nice to know there are people like you loose on this planet.

Happy, Happy Birthday Baby

Andromeda Emmeline Lammott is 4 years old today. DOB 9/11/09 at 11:11 pm in Chicago, IL. Her mother is Vignette, and Lucas is her dad. I spent most of the day with little Andromeda on Monday, while Vignette and Peggy of the POP Gallery gave my gallery a window "makeover." It was a birthday present from them. Delightful all around, so happy birthday to little Andromeda.

Don’t touch my catnip!

Taking a break from my second-hand store series, here’s a cute photo of Neo:

Neo is the cat-in-residence at my new apartment in Gloucester.  He is officially attached to the family upstairs, but he’s claimed me as an auxiliary affection provider (which is fine with me).  If I so much as squat down to pick something up when he’s around, he tries to crawl into my lap.  Of course, I allow him as often as I can!
Here he is enjoying a Dr. Pussum’s catnip toy from the Pop Gallery, a gift from my friend Vignette-Noelle.  He loves it!   It looks like he’s saying, “If try to take this from me, I’ll rip your face off.” Very sweet of him!  I bought some of these catnip toys before, for my parents’ two cats, and they were also very pleased.

_Pop Gallery open for business

During the month of January, the Pop Gallery (67 Main St. in Gloucester) was closed, but the re-opened in February (pretty much right on time for Snowpocalypse Nemo).  Among other things, they used the down time to redecorate the interior:

_Pop Gallery redecoratedThey also have new products to add to their already interesting and eclectic selection.  The gallery carries a variety of “Jolly Roger” and similarly skull-themed items, like these skull-themed items of jewelry:

They also carry some chocolate with some of the most inventive packaging I have ever seen (click on the photo to enlarge it so you can read the small text):

_Pop Gallery chocolateThat’s just the tip of the iceberg, really. At Christmas I bought some really nice catnip toys for my parents’ felines, and they were a big hit!

The gallery’s winter hours are as follows:
Thu: 11:00 am – 6:00 pm
Fri – Sat: 11:00 am – 8:00 pm
Sun: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm

Catnip toys from Pop Gallery make our cat happy

During the “Men’s Night” event, at the Pop Gallery I bought a pack of catnip-based toys for my family’s two cats, Frey and Freya.  This photo shows Frey after flipping out with the catnip… now in a happy catnip-induced stupor.  The small green packet and the realistic mouse were both part of the set.  Freya also enjoyed the toys, but she likes to hide under the covers on my parents’ bed, so I couldn’t get photos…
