Pet of the Week- Onyx

onyx

Good day!  My name is Onyx, I am an eight-month-old female kitten.  I am affection and enjoy company.   I like to play and then I also enjoy my naps.  I am a sweet and petite little girl looking for a forever home.

I am residing at the Cape Ann Animal Aid, located at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter, Four Paws Lane, Gloucester. This is a beautiful shelter and if you have not visited here, please do.  We have lots of cats and dogs who need loving homes.

I do hope you are looking for a cat and you select me.  On the way home, we can stop by the purchase some toys and treats!  When we get home, we can play with them and then the most wonderful part; I will fall asleep on your lap and dream about my new life of being spoiled and pampered!

Pet of the Week-Bobby

Bobby

Hello!  My name is Bobby, I am a four-month-old male black kitten (on the left).  I am eager to find a loving home. I am playful, curious and sweet. I am residing at the Cape Ann Animal Aid (CAAA), located at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter, Four Paws Lane, Gloucester.  Please check our website at: CapeAnnAnimalAid.com

We have had so much excited this month - one weekend with The Rev. Karin Wade from St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Rockport provided the Blessing of the Animals.   Last weekend we had HarvestFest in Rockport and the dog parade.

Also, we have good news to share about Margaret, the pup who has recently had surgery to remove her back leg.  She is doing well and recuperating fine.   We will let you know when she is available for adoption!  Now, back to me – my requests our simple, I love toys, I like attention, I want a family or person to love me as much as my friends here at the CAAA do…and remember, I am ready right now for adoption!

Pet of the Week- Margaret

margaret

My name is Margaret – the pup in the middle!  I am being held by my good friend Jeff Hobbs who is a volunteer at the Cape Ann Animal Aid (CAAA), located at the Christopher Cutler Rich Animal Shelter in Gloucester.

I went to “Dog Day” with Jeff, held recently at Stage Fort Park, and we met some new friends – (L to R) Adam Madruga, Rachel Ketchopulos (seated) and Lauren O’Connor, all of Rockport.

I am not ready for adoption yet,  I arrived at CAAA and I am now in foster care. I was born with a birth defect that left me without a paw on my left hind leg.  While I can still bare some weight on it, doing this for too long will cause me pain and chronic infections, so I will soon have my leg amputated to ensure the best possible future for me. After my surgery I will be all set for a long and happy life, but first I need to have my surgery, recuperate and then I will be ready for loving home and family.

If you would like to make a donation to help me and other special needs animals like me, please send your check to Cape Ann Animal Aid, Four Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA and checks payable to Cape Ann Animal Aid and write “Margaret” in the memo.

If you have any questions or would like to make a donation on-line, please visit CapeAnnAnimalAid.com or contact Rebecca at 978-283-6055, ext. 23.
“Dog Day” was so much fun – thank you to the many people who attended! Jeff and I met so many new friends!

I must have given out at least 5,000 kisses!

ILLUSTRATED TALK

Flying Enterprises: Cape Ann Arts, Crafts and Literary Festivals of the early 1950s

Saturday, April 21 at 3:00 p.m.

Gloucester resident and local historian Mary Rhinelander McCarl will present this illustrated talk about the origins of the Cape Ann Festival of Arts (1952-1969). This program is included with admission; reservations are required. To make a reservation or for more information, please call (978)283-0455, x11 or email jeanettesmith@capeannmuseum.org.

In the early 1950s Cape Ann was full of graphic and sculptural artists, artisans in many media, writers of fiction, poets and playwrights. In 1952, thanks largely to the great sculptor Walker Hancock, the series of the Cape Ann Festival of Arts was begun. These Festivals lasted until 1969 and are well worth a whole series of talks, but in this talk Mary will concentrate on the first two years: 1952 and 1953.

Mary Rhinelander McCarl retired to Gloucester in 2001, having spent summers in the area since her birth in 1940. Her education includes degrees from Harvard College (a BA and an MA in History), Simmons College (an MLS) and UMass, Boston (an MA in History and Archives). She has served as the Assistant Curator of Manuscripts at the Genealogical Society and has been a volunteer at the Cape Ann Museum since 1988. Mary has a passionate interest in local history and is a dedicated researcher.

Cinder–Cape Ann Animal Aid Pet of the Week

Cinder – Pet of the Week

Cinder

I am Cinder, a five-month-old sweet, sassy and very affectionate girl pup.  I am at the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main Street in Gloucester where the wonderful volunteers and staff are taking good care of me.  I can’t wait to be adopted and be part of a family.  As you can see, I have a beautiful black coat and personality to match!   I will be a large dog when I am grown.  I think I might do best with children ten or older; I love them, but I wouldn’t want to accidentally sit on one.

With all the holidays coming up, I want to have a family to enjoy these with.  I know some people just don’t want a big dog and they prefer those little dogs that can fit into their pocket or purse – but I will fit better in your heart!
