Most Importantly before we get into the meat of the Live blog I’ll provide a link to Paul Morrison’s Live GPS Location Tracker Here (The GPS Tracker will be turned on at 8AM to save battery but you can still check it out now. This is a real time tracker so if you see him coming up to where you are on Cape Ann run out to the water’s edge and give him a holler. I’ll randomly draw a name from people that submit photos of Paul on the Race Course before the end of the day for a Real Deal GMG T Shirt $20 value. His GPS Tracker even works on smartphones so there’s no excuses. Bookmark that cool ass link and track his freaky Rubber Duck Toting Around Ass down on your smartphone.
Send in your pictures from the start middle or finish and I’ll add them to this post which I’ll keep stickied at the top of the blog and regular scheduled posts will update below this one. I’ll also give regular updates from our Paul Morrison’s GPS Tracking Map as to his whereabouts around the Cape.
A note to all Blackburn Challenger Competitors and their families-
Swing down the dock after the race to get a free Good Morning Gloucester Sticker and have your picture taken for these pages Representing!
From The Blackburn Challenge Website:
Time Limit Update – 6 Hour limit to complete course. Chase Boats and Timing will finish after 6 hours. Racers are paddling at their own risk after 6 hours on the course. Please plan appropriately if you believe you can not complete in 6 hours.
The Blackburn Challenge is a 20+ mile open water circumnavigation of Cape Ann. Participants row or paddle small boats in the open ocean waters around Cape Ann, and conditions can vary dramatically throughout the day. Occasionally the water can be very rough, with strong winds and high waves.
Paul Morrison writes this pre-race entry-
Good Luck Paul and All the Other Brave Contestants in this year’s 2012 Blackburn Challenge from the team here at GMG!

Lest any of our FOBs think that I, Joey am the man behind R. Duck I would like to clear up that misconception immediately. People have been sending me ducks and I’m not sure why. The official logo is a seagull (homie) and the popular segment where I would feature a seagull with a caption is the”What up Homie?” category here on GMG. You can see the 550 “What Up Homie?” posts here
The wonderfully quirky Mr. Paul Morrison has introduced GMG to the world of one R. Duck. Since R Duck’s introduction I have yet to see Paul Morrison travelling without his trusty sidekick. This includes Mug-Ups, The Blackburn Challenge, breakfasts, and even Wine Dinners at Passports.
Now you, as I, might think that to be a little strange- a grown man lugging a rubber duck around everywhere he goes. But to know Pal Morrison you also know that something isn’t quite right to begin with. His poor wife simply rolls her eyes at a mention of the duck.
So I ask you, does Paul Morrison need a Rubber Duck Intervention?
I heard Abbey Lincoln singing “Up Jumped Spring” on the radio while driving to Passports this morning to meet my friends for brunch–the lyrics couldn’t have been more perfect! Up jumped spring time – so Hello my friends!
Hi Joey, I thought readers might want to see what was in my inbox this morning:
Thank you for turning me on to Good Morning Gloucester. Every city (and town) should have an equivalent. What a great way to communicate enjoyments, appreciations, concerns, and complaints.”
We are truly blessed as a community to have a resource like Good Morning Gloucester. Thank you Joey and GMG team for all the good you have created, and continue to do, for our beloved community.
Our Fearless Leader
Watching your video of people downtown being quizzed, I believe I heard Tom Ellis mention something about GMG had a new mascot ? Someone off camera said "Paul will like this"
So could this be it ?
OH HELLS NO!
Paul Morrison hosted his pictures from The Cape Ann Artisan Tour on Google Plus.
The layout of how the photos are displayed in album and slideshow formats are probably the nicest I’ve seen. So I gave it a whirl creating one from The Bean’s soccer match last weekend. Click on either hyperlink above to see what I mean.
Super easy to create as well. You simply select the photos you want to add and give the album a name. It allows you to share it by hyperlink as well and people can comment on them.
If you haven’t tried it yet, get to it (it’s free too)
If you don’t have an Google Plus account here is an invite
Hint to GMG contributors- You may want to try this out, it’s an easy way to share stuff.

A Tale of Two Sunrises
Mr. Paul Morrison informed me I wasn’t the only one up at 5:57am Saturday 09/10/11
Hmm!’ 9 /10/ 11? Does that have any meaning on the Mayan Calendar?
I was parked on Nautilus Rd. taking pictures of this beautiful show
(which there are so many on this island)
And drawing an “Art, Rock!”
Mr. Morrison was on the other side of the Island on Andrews point taking pictures and probably trying to catch some more of his Wifes deliscious Bluefish Pate’ with his trusted companion R Duck.
I don’t know who’s crazier, Me with my Rocks or Mr. Morrison with his Rubber Duck.
Here are the Photos we took within a minute of each other that morning.
