As always I had a good time celebrating the patron saint of fisherman St. Peter during “Fiestivities” in Gloucester. I have spent the last 15 years of my life partaking in this annual event with various boat loads of wonderful people. I’m a person that has been traveling my whole life around the world who’s making this a must see in my top ten destinations. St. Peters Fiesta will always have a soft spot in my heart and my stomach. Thanks to a number of restaurants; one in particular Passports on main. It’s to the younger generation that I hope keep’s this event alive not just for legacy sake but for the passion they have in this proud micro culture of Massachusetts.
I can say we have stood on that wall of history for many years doing what we do best. Living a life full of passion for things we believe in. While resting in the faith nature will be gentle to the men and women who make their lives around harvesting the tempestuous seas. We have cheered the walkers of the pole with great vigor. I will hear the raspy scream of “viva san Pedro” for the rest of my life and even after death.
As a visitor from out of town, found it difficult to find handicapped parking. A very nice policeman directed us to an empty handicap spot by the 7 arcade and when we parked and explained that we were directed to the spot to save my husband from a painful walk, we were told to leave. Not a very friendly way of greeting customers, especially handicapped customers. We found a spot near city hall and my husband limped down to the square. We stayed for about 1 1/2 hours and in that time I kept my eye on 7 arcade and no one parked there-not one customer. It left a sour taste in my mouth and I felt we weren’t wanted as guests. We will spend our money elsewhere. The navy band was wonderful and represent the true spirit of America-instead of greedy arcade owners like those at 7.Watch out Karma-it can be a bitch.
