We Released The Rare Yellow Lobster We Had At The Dock This Morning After It Had Released Its Eggs While In Our Tank.

About a month ago we released the blue one and the quadruple clawed one for the very same reason.  A good lesson for the kids to learn about sustainability in the lobster industry.  Hated to see that rare lobster leave the dock but at least my girls got to witness it.

  • Very cool Joey! I remember when I was about 12 and my brother Jannik lobstered off Rockport in his 14foot Amesbury skiff. He said the tourists were all agog watching him off the end of Bearskin neck one day as he lifted this huge lobster for them to see then threw it back into the ocean and shrugged his shoulders as if to say “what’s one more or less.” What they couldn’t see was that it was an egg-bearing female! I know it killed him to throw it back but, for sustainability (not to mention the law) it was the right thing to do.

a question: Do stripers really eat lobsters that big?
