Magnolia Beach 1906, my neighbor found this on Shorpy of Magnolia Beach. As you can see the New Magnolia Hotel is in the background.
Here is a photo taken in late April with almost the same view.

What a dramatic difference in the landscape. I see the huge Oceanside Hotel and the Hesperus – any others?

WOW!!! Having spent thousands of hours on this beach these pictures bring back memories. I distinctly remember the night that the hotel burned-down. And, the low tides shown were a lot lower than I remember. Perhaps thosoe bathing suits were a good idea as thy certaainly helped prevent sunburn.

I am not sure if you remember this but there was this big empty lot on Lexington Ave. for years where that Hotel was. I remember it in the 1960’s and it had this big empty pool there and as kids we used to play in the old pool. Later that apartment building on Lexington Ave was built there and a couple of houses were built over the pool area.
