  • Fred, were there other mills on Cape Ann? I can think of the windmill located on Pavilion Beach where the Tavern is now (engravings of early 19th C.). Of course the mill at Riverdale which was powered by the Mill Pond, filled by the tidal influx. Any others?

    • There was a mill at Goose Cove, and the earliest one was built in 1642 at Alewife Brook. Rockport’s John Pool built a grist mill at Mill Pond in 1702. Lumber and other mills were also there. The area is now called Millbrook Meadow, whisn is a public park
