Olive Kitteridge, the HBO miniseries, was filming at the North Shore Art Association yesterday.
Olive Kitteridge, the book, is a collection of short stories written by Elizabeth Stout, and is set in the town of Crosby, Maine. Olive Kitteridge was the 2009 Pulitzer Prize winner for fiction.

Early that same morning I had taken Rosie for her morning walk. The sunlight streaming sideways through the fog shrouded trees was gorgeous and our hood had a new look for the day; the North Shore Art Association had become Crosby Lyons Club and the parking lot was filled with vintage cars from the 1970s and 1980s .

This explains all those yellow signs which say “Crosby” I’ve been seeing lashed to street signs.

Beautiful photos of everyday Gloucester. As an early teen I worked with my grandmother at the north shore art association ~ the view from that door/window on the second floor ~ what a spot to imagine the history of the boats and their captains as they left the railway from Rocky Neck ~ compose a poem ~ or wish for a camera! 😉

No, it was the gallery. Dating by the dresses I remember wearing for the Sunday afternoon teas we hosted, I would say it was in the late 50s. This was volunteer
“work”. I remember dusting the second floor with a hugh broom on Saturday then keeping the cookie trays full for the Sunday teas ~ ummm ~ maybe the deal was they paid me in cookies!

The fog yesterday morning was beautiful and made the neighborhood (and my house) look great! Thanks for capturing that. The crew worked until the last ray of light and yes, that was Adam. Monday morning they were in Beverly, today they shoot in Laurence and Main Street Gloucester is coming up.

What a view thanks for sharing – this is my favorite time of year fall when things go to sleep and the springtime when they re-awaken after a long winter rest everything is done in (4)…:-) 4 seasons 4 directions, etc!!!

The Coronet, built in 1885, was donated to the International Yacht Restoration School in Newport, RI when Elizabeth Meyer was involved with the board of directors, I was the last shipkeeper here, living aboard, and helped to deliver her to Newport. While the details are not clear to me, the board and Elizabeth had differences regarding the boat’s future, and the school changed its plans for the boat’s restoration. While you would only get the board’s side, you might get more details by contacting the school.

Nice pics, Kim. Yup, that was me in the red sweatshirt. I was intrigued by the big receiver module the sound guy was operating to the left in the photo. It was linked to the wireless mics the actors were wearing on set. The receiver rig was as big as a church organ. While I was standing there the guys who had rented out their antique cars to the production company were just about to get paid.

Do try to get to the shoot! I remember, from my Aunts back yard, with my cousins and brothers watching the filming of “SeaHunt” staring Lloyd Bridges. We were in the back yard because we were banished from the set! ;). This was in the late 50s early 60s. Filming was at the Rocky Neck railways. The director thought he had a victory until he turned around and we were sitting on the woodpile looking over the fence, all five of us giggling in a row. Now, I don’t suggest you cause a fuss, but do go, bring you camera and tell us all about it ~
