Much Progress on Adventure From Bruce Slifer

Dear Joey,

Spars and sails on deck, rigging in progress, engine room looking good, bulk heads completed except for finish work.

Regards,

  • What’s the engine? Looks to be “Palmer green” in color, but I can’t identify it for sure.

  • The engine is a Detroit Diesel 6-71N with a twin disc generator – an unused miltary surplus that was wonderful donation from Mr. Knott.

    • Jim Knott is a great guy. He and his wife were in my gallery yesterday. There’s a lot of potential for a GMG article there.

  • Oh, I see now! It’s a 6-71 LP (tilted to the side about 45 degrees to make it lower.) I missed that on first glance. These are very reliable engines with a LONG life! Best of luck with it!!
