“I’m against picketing, but I don’t know how to show it.”
Mitch Hedberg (1968-2005)
A St. Paul, Minnesota native, Hedberg made a name for himself in Seattle’s comedy scene with his one-liners, non-sequiturs, and almost Zen-like paraprosdokians. His bashful stage presence was a result of severe performance anxiety, but gained him a cult following, and offers to appear in movies and sitcoms. He appeared on the Letterman show nine times. George Carlin, Dave Chappelle, Mike Birbiglia, and Lewis Black were said to be among his fans. Hedberg often joked about his drug use, and was arrested for heroin possession in 2003, in the end, it killed him.
